1988 4x4 Toyota pickup 22re motor where is the fuel filter?

Good day,

The fuel filter in the 1988 4X4 Toyota truck is located in front and above the fuel tank on the right hand side of the truck,
If u desire to change the fuel filter you have to lay under the truck on the passenger side and reach up past the filler hose and there you will find the fuel filter fitted with two bolts on opposite sides across the filter.

Thanks for using fixya..

Will crank if pushed off, but not with switch on a 1988 toyota pickup, with 22r carb.

Sounds like a bad starter motor or a faulty / intermittent Earth connection.

First check all the battery power and earth leads where they connect to the Battery Terminals, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean thoroughly by removing any corrosion or paint, with a wire brush or coarse sond paper, that could cause a poor connection, and reconnect making sure all are tight.
Try tapping the starter with a hammer or tyre lever while the starter is operated. If it works then it means that the brushes in the starter are worn out or the solenoid is not making proper contact to switch the high current required. Auto electricians will usually have exchange units available for replacement.

Where is the starter relay located?

Most seem to be,open the hood,if you look at the car from the front,on the left side near the firewall.I have seen many in that location but each make has their own ideas. If it is not there, you can call a Toyota dealer or a shop and someone will give the information for free to try to attract your business.
Good luck! Greg

1988 Toyota pickup will not start after changing altinator. no lights in dash and will not start. battery charging head lights work great

Check fuse-able links, check by gently pulling apart the wires on either side of the fuse-able links, be sure to try to check them all, it helps to mark the ones you check to avoid constant rechecking and getting "lost" on which ones have been checked. Hope this helps.
