2001 landrover dis II headlights are very dim

My 01 discovery II head lights come on but are very dim. you can physically reach in behind the headlight and jiggle the plug and they instantly come on.when i looked at the headlight wiring harness i found out then that both right and left front headlight plugs had melted where the plug meets the headlight what could have caused it. does not seem to be a short in the wiring. no fuse has blown so i am confused

I just ran into a 2002 Discovery doing the same thing. What ended up being the fix was a cam sensor and crank sensor. That is about all I can say without more information. Hope this helps and best of luck.
