Had diff with gears and seals done in Aug/14 clutch in Aug/14. I've had this problem following the work performed. could this rpm problem be related to the repair?

I cant get that slang, DIff , gears, clutch to jibe. 1990 wrangler YJ
what does DONE mean.?
front or rear diff axle new, new transmission? what?
1500 to 1800 rpm 15 is engine stalled, or rpm of oil tanker ship.

got a MANUAL stick or automatic slush pump gear box?
but is no way to answer. you.
its a hydromatic A/T. right>? AUTO?
if yes,it has.
no electronics then. so clean AFT/ levels per operators guide not guessing? hot?
stall test pass (ask)
line pressure tests pass
kick down cable not stuck
or if M/t do say so, mine is, 5 owned..

but we only have one word here, sluggish to work with,
so that can be :
1: engine weak? (low rpms in all gears, and low power)
2: Trans slips (or flares) High rpm and low power (slip)

which is it?, the rpm in each gear answers that.
the FSM shows the range of rpm for each gear. ever seen a real FSM book? factory service manual.

Testimonial: "rear differential ring & pinion does that clarify?"

sure but there are 2 , front and rear, 4wd, and was that a manual or automatic trans clutch? just trying see what car ,what driveline and what engine is there. imagine body is missihng, whats there now? engine size? cylinders? sugglish can many causes, lets list them (brakes drag) tranny/clutch slip or engine power lacks. and is 15 rpm really 1500,im sure it is. but low idle speed say 200 rpm is a near stalled engine, that is all, just need those facts to begin..

My gear stays in3&4 and won't shift till we take the foot off the gas

Could be bad seals or clutches are worn out in the transmission. Could also be the shift solenoids and pistons are worn.

How to synchronize first gear in a 97 xj cherokee

Synchroniser is worn out. Repair requires disassembly of transmission. You can shift more easily with a worn synchro if you match the engine rpms to the transmission input shaft rpms when you shift.
Also could be that it just needs a clutch or clutch adjustment. Check to be sure clutch reservoir has enough fluid.

1994 nissan altima sometimes sluggish at take off, high rpms when changing gears

This sounds like a slipping transmission , check the fluid level first and make sure its full, if its full then you have ****** problems and may need to have ****** rebuild done,

Another thing is to make sure the trans passing gear cable is connected at the throttle where the gas cable is.

1966 Falcon with C4 Transmission I changed out fluid and filter

Generally, what causes C-4's and C-6's to be slugish going into gear, is the seals on the servo pistons are getting hard. The servo pistons are what apply pressure on the clutch packs, when the seals get hard the oil can blow past the piston and the clutch won't engage. It's worse when the the trany is cold and usualy gets better as the oil gets warm. You could try some transmission conditioner, the cheep stuff works as good as the high dollar stuff. Don't rev the engine to try to get it to go into gear, the clutch is trying to engage and you will burn the clutch up pack. If the clutches were replaced 3k miles ago why didn't they put seals in it at the same time?

Check all your hydraulic connections for seepage . If you find nothing leaking, check where the rod goes into the master cylinder under the dashboard...If still nothing, I'd change the master cyl, as it is likely internally bypassing and permitting the clutch to release. PS it takesa a special "touch" to shift gears without using the clutch, if you cannot do that don't drive it Till you get it fixed...you will damage synchros and will need to have trans removed and rebuilt. $$$you don't want to spend!!!

Rear diff problem

The only place you did not mention is the pinion seal (at the yoke where the driveshaft connects) Any leak from a differential should be fairly obvious...clean everything off well and drive it, You should see seepage somewhere. Any grease on the wheels or new fluid where you cleaned will tell you where to look. If it is at the pinion seal, If you haven't done this before, don't...you can disturb the adjustment inside the gear case and damage the gears.
