SOURCE: fuel gauge on 1993 Dodge Dakota V8

Definitely the gauge can be changed, provided the float in the fuel tank is OK, i.e. no leaks. This float connects to a potentiometer which records the current flowing thru it and displays it in the gauge. So before replacing the gauge measure the current and match that against the quantity of fuel in the tank...............sodeep

SOURCE: 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L oil pressure gauge reading too high

if the gauge starts a 0 - goes to 1/2 , than full - sounds like gauge is OK - seems to me like the sending unit is bad - you could try removing the sender and trying to clean out the port with "brake clean", letting it dry than re-installing it. the pressure switch is still the least expensive place to start

SOURCE: low oil pressure 93 GMC P/U w/350 motor w/205,000 miles gauge

While engine is running, open the cover where you add oil to engine and see if you see a good flow of oil, if good flow, could be as easy as replacing oil sending sensor. got to realize that if poor maintenance history your engine may not be building enough pressure at iddle to move your hydraulic operated valves, only when you rev it up it will pump enough to run smooth. if running engine too long, you may cause more damage to other engine components such as crankshaft and cam shaft bearings. if you can spare a few bucks, have a good mechanic check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. another cheap option is to replace oil pump. last resort if you love your truck as much as we do,replace engine or rebuild it. At 205,000 this is a normal symptom, other than timing chain problems, most engines don't make it that far. hope this helps!

The oil sending unit is located on the engine block behind the drivers cylinder head area. You have to climb up on the motor to see it cause it is hard to see behind the wiring harness. You may also want to purchase a new sending unit because it is very long and you might need to buy the sending unit socket to replace it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

94 Dodge Dakota 3.9 low oil pressure when idling.

It is possible that the low oil pressure when idling in your 94 Dodge Dakota 3.9 could be caused by either a faulty oil pump or a faulty oil pressure sending unit. It is difficult to accurately diagnose the issue without further information and a proper inspection.

2001 Dodge Durango- no oil pressure after

What was the code number? The oil pressure sensor isn't hard wired to the instrument. The oil pressure sensor is hard wired to pcm, the pcm makes the determination and sends serial data to instrument cluster telling it what to do with oil pressure gage. At the moment, I'm not sure where the oil pressure sending unit is located? It may be on top of engine at the back? In the diagram, the top wire should be ref voltage, key on, bottom wire should be a ground.
If you don't want to do testing yourself. Take it to different repair shop.

Oil pressure unit on a 2001 dodge dakota v8 4.7 replaced the oil pressure unit and the oil gauge is still reading low oil in the motor is high with the dip stick. Tried to reset the sensor by disconnecting...

Your talking about low oil pressure, not level, correct? Hope you can read diagram. The top wire, oil pressure sensor should be voltage and bottom wire is ground. Use digital multimeter on low voltage setting to check. The sensor sends signal to pcm, on the right in diagram, the dashed lines. Then the pcm sends data to instrument cluster on buss circuit.
I agree with other person, it could be low oil pressure and everything else is working correctly.

The oil pressure at idel is fine however when you put a load on the engine it will drop to 0 and when the load is off the pressure will go back off. Is it a oil pump or gauge?

to check the gauge you need to remove the wire from the sending unit and ground it for an instant with the ign. on. a good gauge will go to the top of the scale. if the gauge goes to top of scale then replace sending unit. if the gauge does not go to the top of scale replace the gauge. also check your wiring from gauge to sending unit for faulty wires. if all of this is good then your pump i partly pluged at the screen or faulty and u will need to replace it. hope this will help!!!

1989 dodge ram 150 4/w drive pickup has no oil pressure showing on the gage, driving or sitting still.

You need to have a oil pressure guage hooked up to see if you have a bad guage, sending unit to the guage, or if your oil pressure is actually low. Any garage should be able to do this, if you can't get one.

My 01 bonneville oil pressure gauge is showing 120 and my gas gauge is all over the place

HI, the oil pressure sending unit may be malfunctioning at this point. this will cause erratic readings. if your oil level is proper and there are no apparent oil leaks, you will need to replace the oil pressure sending unit. this will fix the erratic oil pressure readings.

Concerning the gas gauge. this device also has a sending unit that sends the correct fuel level reading to the gas gauge via wire transfer. this sending unit is located and attached to the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank. replacing this device will fix this issue as well.

Please rate and god bless:)

Low oil pressure

I believe your sending unit is located on the top of the block, towards the fire wall. You can get an inexpensive pressure test gauge and put in place of your sending unit. It should be a 1/4" NPT fitting. Does the pressure gauge fluctuate between low and high RPM? If so, chances are that your oil pump may need to be replaced.
