Does it click or try to crank when you turn the key? If nothing happens it could be a faulty safety switch (clutch or park on an automatic) or the ECM (electronic control module)

Testimonial: "does click in ignition but starter does not in park or neutral"

If you turn the key and instrument lights come on and you are getting no responce from the starter when you turn the key to start, I would have to think that the problem would be confined to the Ignition switch, a broken wire or a saftey switch or the ECM as I alluded to earlier.

If you disconnected the battery you must perform a throttle body relearn procedure. Honda calls it an idle relearn. It has to relearn the home position for the throttle plate because of the loss of power. Here's the procedure

Changed battery and altenator brand new but wont crank when i shut the key off the green key symbol blinks

Johnathan, if battery was removed could be a security issue and you may have to do a relearn procedure, check your manual. With out more info, check fuses and relays, my guess is faulty starter. If you want, re post year, make, model and complete question

2006 cobalt battery saver on and security light on acts Luke battery is dead but it's not, will start if you jump a wire to starter but lugs like in 2nd gear.ran fine turned it off New switch

If you installed a new ignition switch and now the security light is on than the BCM has not relearned the new ignition switch. You can google "gm security relearn" to find instructions on how to do this.

Why my cobalt WILL NOT CRANK

Did you check for power at the crank relay in the under hood fuse block ? Two pins should have batt + One from CRNK fuse 30amp in the under hood fuse block #2 from PRK/NEUT fuse 10amp ,this power supply comes through the park neutral switch . One pin is to the starter an the other to the PCM / ECM ! The PCM/EMC get's a command from the BCM over the serial data communication bus to give a ground to that pin to energize the relay an crank the vehicle ! Do you have any lights lit on the instrument cluster , check engine , security , a yellow wrench ? You can test right from the relay socket ! I will send a link on how to do it . It won't be for the same problem , but you should get the idea ! This could very well be a computer problem . You need to know how the system functions. When you turn your key to crank the engine , it is an input to the BCM - body control module . The BCM then tells the engine computer to ground the pin at the crank relay, an if there is no problem with the anti-theft system the engine computer will ground the pin cranking the engine ! You always have things tested before replacing parts, that is a needless waste an cost more in the long run ! You should have taken it to a ASE certified repair shop ! 2006 Ford Expedition will not start this morning, battery checks 12 volts, will not do anything when turn key to start position

You can jump starter relay to see if starter will crank the engine. Pull the starter relay, use jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87, terminal 30 is hot all the time and there is a fuse, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one is hot all the time. The other goes hot when relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through engine block. Battery positive and negative connections are important.

2006 Chev Cobalt won't crank...no lights, no sounds nothing. When tried to get the key out it won't go past the ACC position? Any ideas on the problem?

Is the battery dead? Check your battery condition and connections. Check your starter fuse from there. Check the connection to the starter then progress to the ignition side of the concern

2006 cobalt.replaed starter relay fuse all lights come on dash ect. fuel going to fuel pump but wont crank over

Are you positive the battery is good? Did you try to jump it ? Make sure all cables are clean and tight. When you say "won't crank over" do you mean the engine doesn't turn at all? If not, I don't know why you think the fuel pump would be the culprit. If it cranks and doesn't start, I don't know why you replaced the starter.

Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the light. You need a scan tool for that unless you get lucky and fix the problem and go through enough cycles for it to go out on it's own.

Take it to Autozone or Advance or somewhere and have them read the codes. They do it for free for you. (They are hoping you will buy parts there) They can reset the light as well.

My 2006 buick lacrosse wont start radio and lights work but its not saying nothing when i try to crank it

Hello! Do you hear a click when the key is turned?...If no click is heard either the ignition key, the Crank relay, the starter, or the battery are suspect...Having lights and radio does not mean the battery is capable of running a starter motor......Put a meter on the battery...should read 12.5 volts...Turn key...Does voltage drop to 8 or 9 volts? Bad battery...If all is well with battery and connections to it...Check the starter fuse # 33 in the under hood fuse/relay box...If the fuse is good that click you should hear is from the Crank Relay in that box...If all of the above is OK connect your meter to the Purple wire that is connected to the starter motor...When the key is turned 12 volts must be on that wire...If there is the starter motor is defective...So, #1...Do you hear a click when key is turned...That would point at a bad starter or weak battery...#2...If you do not hear a click bad fuse #33, bad Crank Relay, bad ignition switch...#3...If fuse is good Bad Crank Relay or Ignition switch; Crank Relay is a low cost item ($10)...Replace Relay...Stop there and send a comment as to results...Guru...saailer
