Installed new battery and positive terminal. car still will not crank. Put jumper cables on and it starts immediately. What could be wrong?
Usually the cable clamps are the culprit when this occurs.
corrosion inside the first few inches of the cable (below the insulation wrap.
replace both positive and negative clamps/and or cables

Aotozone will check and charge your battery, free
You could try that anytime you question your battery.
Hope this helps.
Not all new batters are that new. Some places receive there batters dry and add acid when they sell this is a fresh battery no build up on plates. Most places get there battery's pre filled with acid and they set like that some time. If they sit long enough or on a concrete floor they can become oxidized and become bad. But check that battery cables are clean of corrosion where they contact battery.and that both cables are tight on both ends. Take it to a place like auto zone they will check battery and alternator free
Yes it could be bad or discharged. If it is discharged that also will shorten the life of it depending on how long it sits around like that. You need a voltmeter to see what voltage the new battery is showing.
