Shift lock is just a safety feature, so you have your foot on the brake, when you put it in gear. It has nothing to do with starting the car. If this is an Automatic, it may be a switch fault on the gear selector

totally different ecu....good luck..

Locate the starter on the back of the engine between the motor and the transmission,Take a hammer and lightly tap on the starter while someone trys to start the engine if it is the starter and one or two starts are left it will start.
If your are planning on taking it to the shop be prepared to go if it starts,you may not get another chance.
