SOURCE: No dip stick or filler tube in engine comp for

There is no dipstick, the transmission is a completely sealed system. You have to take to dealer for service.

SOURCE: When and How to check transmission fluid

if it is a manual transmission you have to check it from under the car by opening the fill plug. if fluid starts flowing out your full if not than you need to service it.

if it is an automatic it will be close to the firewall and hard to spot. but it is there. if you have 45,000 miles on it you should have the transmission serviced whether it is an automatic or manual.

SOURCE: In 97 mercury mountaineer, how to turn off "check engine" light

Go to the local parts store, have them check the codes (they will do this for free usually). It will tell you what sensor needs to be checked/replaced. Once the part is replaced, it will clear on its own. They can also reset the code, but it will come back if the trouble persists.

I have a 96 Chevy suburban and I was driving through the mountains and the transmission kept down shifting or slipping gears help?

Was it loaded with weight? Could have been overdrive. Vehicle should sometimes be dropped onto 3rd and left there under hilly conditions. So as not to shift too much. Suggest checking trans fluid level , possible trans filter change, or add trans cooler to keep temp down in fluid when in hilly terrain. Good luck.

Transmission dip stick keeps popping out

check trans. fluid level per owners manual. The high operating temperatures cause fluid to expand greatly,an over-filled transmission can actually force excess fluid out of the dip stick tube.check level with trans. hot, engine running in park on a level surface. After driving, place shifter in park, hold brake and move shifter through all gears and back to park.remove dipstick, wipe clean,re-insert and check fluid level.normally, trans fluid & filter should be changed +/- 100 k miles

04 mountaineer is stuck in park

If you are saying the shifter will not come out of park, the problem could be the brake light switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
If you disconnect the shifter from the transmission and the trans will not come out of park you may have broken the park gear.

What is O/D on 1995 Toyota Camry? Light says O/D Off and car won't go into any forward gear. It runs and will back up, but not go forward.

o/d stands for over drive which is 4th gear in that trans.there is a button on the shifter to disable that gear for bad road conditions.depress the button to change, car should mostly be driven with o/d selected, meaning press the button until the o/d off light goes out.with all that said,if the light display wont go out it could indicate a trans failure code is present.if your car wont move in any forward gears, most likely you have in internal trans failure.check trans fluid level and condition, full and red is good.brown or darker colored fluid is bad.if fluid is low, then add to full mark and inspect for leaks.

How much fluid does the auto trans take in a 2001 dodge durango 4wd take

Welcome to FixYa.

My spec. reference indicates 5 quarts.

To check your fluid level;

To do this you must run the vehicle for at least 15 minutes, place the shifter in all area's one at a time for 5 seconds each from park all the way down to low 1, then all the way back up to park, 5 seconds in each gear then slowly return it to the neutral position, engage the parking brake, then check the fluid level while the D is running. You will need to wipe and check it a couple of times to get the actual level.

TRYING TO ADD TRANS FLUID CAN'T FIND FILL

The transmission fluid is added where the check stick goes into it. Remove the stick and place a funnel into the hole and pour the needed amount of automatic fluid (I believe it is Type F for Ford vehicles) untill it is at the full mark. Always check the level AFTER the car has warmed up and switch the gears a few times with your foot on the brake to move fluid around in transmission

My 2002 Mercury Sable will not shift into gear, will shift out of park, but will not go into any gear.

How many miles and how does your transmission fluid look?

Get car ot normal oper. temps and put on level ground. Put trans thru all gears with foot on brake. Put into park, leave running and check level. If level is low, this could be part or all of your problem. If level is fine and trans fluid is not brown or burnt, you have an electronic problem.

If fluid checks ok, let me know if you have a Check engine light on, ABS light, etc.

Hope that helps.

It does not have a dipstick. To check the fluid trans fluid has to be warm then you take the allen screw out of plug in pan, see 1st pick and you should have a steady drip from the hole. If you have to add fluid you would need the special tool shown in second pick and a tool to pump fluid in.
