Vw golf se 2002 engine management light has come on whilst driving and was flashing but stopped, also emmissions workshop has come on display, the car seems to have lost power?

what are the diagnostic codes? if they are manufacturer codes they should be 5 digits, if they are generated using a non manufacturer scan tool they will be 5 digits beginning with a letter, in your case most likely P for powertrain then four numbers ex. p0121, you may also have U codes or B codes which are basically body and communication codes. Scan the codes, write em down, clear them again, and see which ones come back. The better scan tool the more info you can extract from the vehicle. Keep an eye on the check engine light, immobiliser/security lights etc. Could be a key/programming/relearn issue. Im here if you need me.

glow plug light comming on when driving . starting ok. check your brake lights are working.

need a garage that has vag com ,the tool that talks to the computer. It most likely needs to be just reset. It is an emmisions thing that pops up to get yo to get your emmisions parts checked. Or there could be something wrong.

my power steering light comes on and off, and the car will not switch on once turned off, its draining the battery??

replace starter hit it with a hammer to see if it will go

this is going to sound nuts but its true.if your brakelight switch is defective that light will flash.
see if you brake lights are working.if it is automatic trans you will notice the shifter will not always release when you depress brake pedal.
if its not brakelight switch get it autoscaned with a VAG.com

We think it could be the engine management system - would recommend going to a reputable garage for it to be reprogrammed.
