It can only be 3 things, blown fuse, (test them not gander)
open circuit or short circuit.
are you saying park running lights are dead, aka, TAIL.
are the park lights working up front, ? and on dash?
1st click of head light switch is park. that is dead,at all lamp inside and outside of car?
02 xl7 (usa car answers, we do, here, as it is a USA forum)

this car has a BCM, body brain.
and it runs most things, we scan it first to see if IT has issues.
called DTCs.
when you select TAIL, at switch this is a digital input to BCM
true (0v = true) signal tells BCM you want tail/ parks on.

it (BCM) then closes relay 23 (seen below) park/tail relay
if the fuse is not blown, then this relay glows the dash
Illumination lights (park dim) are yours glowing now.
yes the all that is good fuse to dash.
now out side car, lots of tail/park lamps, which dont glow, just rear?

if you are more clear, we can find what is wrong. the car has piles of tail lamps (parks) all over car, inside too. to check fuses , we use a voltmeter, 12vdc on both sides, of fuse, parks on. if not the fuse that LOOKED ok is NOT ok.

You have a bad ground connection. Sometimes the tail light unit it self fails via a short circuit board. Might want to contact Sunkist and ask for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). There may be a recall on the unit or list the problem. Get it fix those tail light out ticket can be costly!

SOURCE: 97 CAMRY TAIL LIGHTS PROBLEM

You are right you do have a short, but it's easy to fix at the same time it is expensive. In your trunk area you will find a bulb out relay it can be either in the right corner or left corner panel in the trunk area,if not there if may be under the rear deck of the trunk(under the rear window inside the trunk) It might be yellow brown or green. One fron the junk yard will work just as good as a new one.If you are skillful you can open it and solder the burned circuit, but you have to know what you are doing. You also neet to find out if you had a bad bulb that shorted so you can rest knowing that what caused it to burn out in the frist place is fixed.

SOURCE: brake lights won't work. tail lights do. I

need to know if your third brake light up high is working or not.if it isn't,you need to check the brake light switch on the brake pedal with a test light, one side hot all the time, the other side should turn hot when brake pedal is pushed.

SOURCE: no tail lights

You should have a fuse panel under you dash inside. This is where the fuses are located for lights. Don't know the exact location, but you can pull each fuse to see if it is bad. This won't hurt anything. It just keeps you from hunting down a diagram of where the fuse is located.

2003 suzuki grand vitara tail lights dont work but break lights work ...switched light bulbs and switched fuse ...what can I do

I remember something from my past. The brake lights are on a different circuit, that is why they still work. The tail lights are in some way connected in the cigarette lighter circuit. The lighter circuit may have been shorted blowing that fuse. Check that fuse and see if that could be your problem. I have also seen where both tail light filaments .have burnt out at the same time. You may need to check the bulbs and replace. I am curious to see how you make out. Good Luck Friend.

I have a 2008 Suzuki XL7 and the rear brake lights stopped working, but the third light on the hatch still works. We have replaced the bulbs and checked the fuse and all are good.

The 3rd brake light and the tow side lights are on different fuses, have you verified that they are both good. The other part that can cause this is the multifunction switch (AKA turn signal switch).

2006 chevy impala rear tail light...

there is a connector that plugs into the light that should be looked at. is there any water leaks anywhere. there were problems with water leaks on some malibu models around the tail lights. pell open the inside covers and get to the tail light to inspect for this. also check those bulbs just in case they did go bad. any condensation in the light? not sure if the Impala has a single fuse for both tail light or one for each but you should check fuse box under dash and under the hood. good luck
