The last ignition switch I worked on was on a 1996 Pontiac sun fire. It was located on the left side of the steering column across from the key tumbler under the plastic. I found the start wires and jumpered them making the starter turn. Next I removed the switch from the column, and with a screwdriver, I turned it until the starter once again turned. I found the tumbler assembly wasn't turning far enough to start it. There was a small metal cover on the tumbler that had popped up and kept it from going farther. Hope this helps. There are some useful videos on YouTube that may help also.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Montana Thermostat replacement

check the coolant level fiirst...if that is low it wont give you any heat.....to change the thermostat you have to follow the top radiator hose to the engine.at the send of it you will see a clamp take it loose...then you will see the thermostat housing its held in place by 2 bolts . once you remove them you have the thermostat....make sure you clean all the old gasket material off both the housing and mount.also make sure you get a new gasket.

SOURCE: How do i replace the thermostat in a 2001 pontiac montana?

You can replace the themostat without taking the exhaust pipe off. You need to remove the Air Intake between the Air box and the Throttle Body. Remove the Throttle body, hoses attached to it, throttle and cruise cable. The front bolt isn't bad, the back one sucks, it just takes some time and a short wrench helps.

IT is possible but the car should start in park. Check immobiliser. Run fault codes for cam/crank position sensor problems. Check that timing belt is ok.

2001 montana crankshaft sensors test

You would use a low voltage test light or analog meter depending on what you are testing for. The sensor generates a reference pulse.
