2001 volvo v40 won't start. No crank at all. Red LED on left of dashboard flashes rapidly for 15 seconds, then goes out.

It's your built in security alarm , have you changed the battery lately ? The procedure to reset it is: Unlock drivers door with key, then use key fob in unlock door mode, put key in ignition switch, foot on brake , transmission in park or neutral and clutch depressed (If applicable )

Testimonial: "Thankyou for your reply. I will try that shortly. I did remove the battery to recharge is as it went too flat to start the car. Put it back in when charged, started up fine. Was good for a few days. Then I went to a shop, got back in and then it had the no crank, no start condition and LED light flashing rapidly for 15 seconds."

Volvo v40 (estate) same as s40 1997 2 litre

This sounds to me like you may have a bad master switch. Everything with the windows goes back to the master switch before it will work.

I dont know how to pull the codes on a 1993 volvo

Volvo Code Retrieval Accessing Trouble Codes 89-93 models (and later non-turbo/non-OBDII models)

Fuel Codes Locate the diagnostic unit behind left strut tower and remove its cover.(see image) Connect selector cable to socket #2,which tests the fuel codes. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position(engine not running). Enter the diagnostic mode by pressing the push button on the diagnostic unit for at least 1 second, but not more than 3 seconds. The red LED light will start to flash, count the number of flashes in 3 flash intervals. The flashes will be seperated by 3 second intervals.Make note of all codes. If no codes are stored, the LED will flash 1-1-1,which means the fuel system is operating correctly.

Ignition Codes To access the ignition codes, follow the above procedure, but with the selector cable connected to the #6 socket on the diagnostic unit.
NOTE:Turbocharged models may have seperate codes for the turbo system and are accessse by hooking the selector cable to the #5 socket.

Location for lighter fuse v40 volvo 2001

There should be a guide in the manual, or a diagram in the fuse box lid to point out witch fuse goes where.
Lighters use a fair bit of power, so i would look for a 20A fuse or higher.

Clock setting

Here's how to set the clock on a 2004 Volvo V40. Rotate the odometer stem to the right or to the left and hold it without pushing it in. The clock will start to move slowly then speed up. This seems to have been left out of the owners manual. Hope it helps.
