Car overheated and I replaced the radiator. Was going to get an oil change when I was told my head gaskets were blown. The reservior is filled with brown mucky substance and the oil is the same. I'm not adding much water or coolant but adding alot of oil. Now I'm checking my options.
You have a leak in the engine allowing coolant to get in the engine or oil to get in radiator. Head gasket would be best guess. Pull spark plugs you will see one that looks different from the rest maybe 2 that is bad head gasket.
THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR GAUGES. OVERHEATING IS THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF HEAD OR GASKET FAILURE. THERE IS NO QUICK FIX NOW. THE DAMAGE IS DONE.IT IS TIME FOR A HEAD JOB AT THE VERY LEAST. WHEN WATER AND OIL MIX THE OIL LOSES ITS LUBRICATING ABILITY AND YOU MAY HAVE CAUSED FURTHER SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE. HATE TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS, GOOD LUCK BILL
Sounds like the head-gasket blew and allowed oil into the coolant and coolant into the oil. Unfortunately, it's time for a tear-down and rebuild of the engine.
