I have a 1994 Ford Explorer need to find out where the fuse box is to change out tail light fuse?

There is no fuse for the tail lights , Do the headlamps work ? Power for the tail lights comes from the headlamp switch ! Find yourself a wiring diagram an check the circuit ! You can find a wiring diagram here http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html .Do you own a test light or a volt meter ? Do you know how to read a wiring diagram ? There are alot of videos on youtube on trouble shooting automotive electrical circuits , under standing wiring diagrams etc... Did they just stop working ? Do the stop an turn lamps work ?

1996 ford explorer head light has high beam but no low beam. Im wondering if it is a ground that is loose or maybe my dimmer switch is failing

The components involved in your headlamp system vary considerably depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with "Auto Lamps", "Daytime Running Lamps" and/or "Fog Lamps". In any of these cases, both the High Beam and the Low Beam elements share the same grounds. Yes, it could be the dimmer switch. It could also be the Daytime running lamp module or the Headlamp Switch or the Auto Lamp Control Unit. It is also possible that you simply have both of your Low Beam Headlamp elements burned out or have bad sockets where they connect to the wiring harness.

    Headlights removal ford explorer 96

    1. Check that headlamp switch (11654) is in the off position.
    2. Lift hood (16612).
    3. Release latch and swing filler panel to left or right.
    4. Remove electrical connector from headlamp bulb by grasping wires firmly and snapping connector rearward.
    5. Remove headlamp bulb retainer (13N019) by rotating counterclockwise (when viewed from rear) about one-eighth turn and sliding ring off plastic base. Keep headlamp bulb retainer as it may be used again to retain new headlamp bulb.
    6. Carefully remove headlamp bulb from socket by gently pulling straight backward out of socket. Do not rotate headlamp bulb during removal. 7056091.gif

    Removal and Installation
    1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
    2. Remove blind rivets (2) attaching screws (4) and radiator upper sight shield.
    3. Remove turn/park lamp attaching screws (2) and pull assembly away from body. Remove bulb sockets from housing and remove lamp assembly. Repeat on opposite side of vehicle.
    4. With turn/park lamp assembly removed, screw attaching grille to front fender flange is accessible. Remove grille attaching screw. Repeat on opposite side of vehicle.
    5. Remove attaching screws (4) located across top of grille.
    6. Grip lower edge of grille and pull outward to disengage from retaining clips. Remove grille.
    7. Using needle-nose pliers, compress barbs on headlamp housing retainer. With barbs compressed, pull forward on housing just enough to disengage from retainer. Repeat on opposite side of headlamp housing.
    8. Turn headlamp housing as necessary and pull forward to disengage from headlamp aiming ball socket.
    9. Disconnect wiring from headlamp bulb socket.
    10. If replacing headlamp housing, remove retaining collar and bulb.
For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Make sure to check headlamp aim. 568a220.gif

Headlight went out and two new bulbs didnt work, any suggestions

Check out your lamp out warning module located inside the center console. Your right headlamp wire is in pin 13 dark green with orange stripe. The left headlamp wire is dark blue and white in pin 11. Most llikely the module has an internal open. They are pretty expensive. You could try a junk yard but you won't know if that module is good. If you don't want to spend alot of money. splice the good headlamp wire top the bad headlamp wire and they both should work. Good luck.
