It sounds like the linkage inside the door is broken. You'll have to remove the door panel and check the connections. Be sure and check your fuses first to be sure nothing is blown.
defective window switch or broken wire, did you test the power to the window motor when you changed the motor?? start there, unplug the motor and test for power when you use the switch, then up by the switch test for power into, and coming out of the switch, if the switch gets power but no power coming out ten its the switch. if the switch has power coming out but not at motor, then its a broken wire.
This sounds like the window regulator is bad, what happens is the cables that operate the glass come apart and start to jam up, the only way to repair is to replace the regulator, if the cable pops all together then the glass will not move and will not stay up. to replace this regulator on this a4 is not so easy, you may want to have a shop look at it. the way its installed the door must come apart and then theres a plate the size of the door that comes off the inside of the door and then the glass is removed and the regulator is then unbolted and removed. there are connection to latch and other components that are hard to get to. good day.
multifunction / central locking control unit could cause this problem. located under carpet in left front foot well. [RHD vehicle]. check for water ingress into foot well.
The pasenger side window button may be bad or wire hornest that runs from pasenger side kick panel in door jam, to the inside of the door. open passenger side door there will be a rubber boot between the door hinges.pull the rubber boot back and check for broken wires.
Hi i have an audi a4 and the drivers window fails to open and close properly and there is a strange clicking when doing so. It sounds like there is a stone inside the window but i think it may be a mechanical fault with the electic window ........help
Ok you have either one of two main problems with it.
1. does it go in one direction only then jams the other way?
Ans. the plastic clips that hold the window to the lifting rail can break.
these can be replaced by removing the door trim & replacing though you will need torx type tools.
2. As with vw golfs & passets the motors pack up or even the wire can break on some of them.
Ans. replace the motor unit in the door or the cable & rail.
3. It is heardly heard tell of but the only other problem is that one of the wires in the hinge area to the door has broken.
4. we have had this one a few times but this would also include the interior lights & central locking not working as well as the windows.
The central convenience unit under the passenger foot well can go wonky & needs to be replaced, usually caused by water coming in through the heaters air filter when the water is trapped in the front of the car ( caused by rotten leaves stuck in the drain points & also happens to the A6 models )
