If the pressure sensor on a 2002 Cadillac is not good how will the engine react?

Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Sensor (LP1/LY7)
In the engine compartment, on the left side of the engine, in the oil filter housing
Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Sensor (LS2)
In the engine compartment, on the top, rear, center of the engine

First check the engine computer for fault codes, address any found. If not codes then check fuel pressure. If pressure is ok make sure fuel is being injected, if that is ok for engine mechanical issues

Example Engine:
2002 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L SFI DOHC HO 8cyl.

This engine has (2) Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensors: the Upper sensor is CKP sensor B, and the lower sensor is CKP sensor A (this is included for the OBD-II DTC codes - P0385 references Sensor B = upper CKP sensor, whereas P0335 references the lower CKP sensor (sensor A)).

Both crankshaft position sensors are located in the front of the engine just above the oil filter adapter. To access both CKP sensors, jack up vehicle on the passenger side, remove the oil filter, and the oil filter adapter, including the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch. See illustration.

The Oil Filter is the can-type object below the oil filter adapter, which includes the EOP switch. Recommend: remove oil filter with an oil filter socket/strap wrench, since it's close to the oil pan.

The Code P0460 means you are running Rich. This is being picked up by the O2 sensors.

What happens is an air leak in the intake side of the engine(any seam) of the engine is measured and this added airflow makes the top part of the engine lean. Automatically the sensors start dumping more gas to maintain fuel ratio. Because of this , the exhaust gas spikes from the excess fuel.

You need to find the air leak. Sometimes using a spray bottle of water around seams and Vacuum lines and solenoids will change the idle RPM. The running engine will draw in the water and react.

If this does not work, check the fuel pressure at the test tap. Some tools can be borrowed from Autozone,Advance, or Oreilys. If you have high pressure, this could be the result of the lean reading or a defective fuel pressure regulator.

I hope my solution helps. At this point, we Experts can not see what other Experts have recommended. So there is a good chance some of this has already been suggested.

What was the fault code that triggered the engine light? The fuel pressure sensor on the Escalade monitors vapor pressure within the fuel tank to determine whether a leak has occurred and sends the information to the EVAP system to recirculate the fuel vapor.

If a new converter does not fix it, it seems obvious that the O2 sensor that SET the code in the first place may be defective (or connector or the harness)- the converter has to 'light off' (get hot enough) for the O2 sensor to see that it is doing it's job-if it cannot see that, you either have other engine issues or you Bank 2 sensor is too old/coated with lots of miles on it to react properly or the heater circuit or harness/connector is bad.

How is the sensor connected to the engine? I had a 2000 model Pajero which did the same thing. It had to do with the way the sensor was connected to the engine, the hollow bolt they used was aftermarket and didn't let enough oil through to the sensor. So the oil has to warm up first before it can get through to the sensor.

they all are wrong .i was a service tech for Cadillac for 15 year and guarantee you that the problem is in you're crank shaft sensor .Cadillac redesign the sensor on 2002.check for code you'll find p0355 and p0385 .replace the sensor and reprogram the new ones.good luck Danny.B
