My 2007 Toyota Prius ABS light came on so we took it to the dealer. They are saying we need to replace the ABS and quoted $2500. Does this seem high to you?

I seem to recall that the high voltage battery has a module that identifies it to the car. If that is the case, you need to go to the dealership or call a mobile auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to program in the details of VIN number and mileage.

The clicking noise could be related to the bigger problem with the abs/vsc actuator, this is a kind of common problem on the prius models, the actuator should be replaced, this is a very expensive part (around $2000) for the part only, while the warning light is on the traction control and abs are disabled, it will still brake normally.

Hmm, I'm not sure what a main chip is but, there is a few reasons for this problem.

1. ABS Sensors - there could be something wrong with a sensor and/or the wiring to them
2. The wheel bearing speed sensor in a wheel is bad or intermittent which then tells the computer that wheel is traveling at a faster or slower rate of speed then the rest which in then the computer turns the abs light on.

Now when your warning lights go on, the computer sets a DTC code which is the key to helping solve this problem. If you can get the DTC (Data Trouble Code) from the dealership or from someone who can scan your can, I can better assist you in figuring out what's wrong. Hope this helps.

Check your brake pads first,as they have a wear warning clip on them.so if you hear a loud screaming noise.Then its quite possible they have worn causing ur warning lights to come on.And i would get anouther quote as that is quite dear for a pump replacement.If it is the pump.good luck pippall!!

Acording the online manual , that is the Hybrid system warning light. I havn't tracked down exactly what it means , but is is grouped in with other service reminders. There is an issue with the height control sensor on the Prius product. Is it still under warranty? If not, go back to the dealer and tell them that you want scheduled to see the District Service and Parts Operations Manager. When you meet with him/her, explain the situation, and the costs involved. He/she has the ability to grant "goodwill" assistance, and possibly help you out on the repair, with Toyota participating in some of the costs.

A dealer doubles the price, I worked in dealers my whole working life, you would not believe how cheap the technicians could buy parts compared to the customer price.

My Toyota Prius hybrid warning light has come on three times in eight years. If I turn the car off for 20 minutes, the hybrid light is off but the check engine light is on. After a while, the check engine light goes off. I think this problem is related to moisture somehow entering the hybrid vent on the driver's side.
