Engine lights read transmission faults as well as engine faults
have the fault codes read to find the problem sensor

the sensor is in behind the nosecone. but this should not effect the ac system . it would it the inside temp sender said that in the auto mode only. put it in defrost mode and the compressor should be on if not you have another problem (maybe low on freon)

SOURCE: 98 ford Exped. oil and engine light come on but go off on restart

did you check the transmission heat sensor or the intake air sensor these can be incorporated with temp guage on some vehicles

but theres also the problem of alternator is getting ready to give only
take an electro meter and hook up to cigarette lighter with a 2 post power maker and watch the voltage as your driving try to recreate the conditions that brought this about if the reading changes dramatically this will tell your alternator will need to be replaced at some point also dead cells in battery creates this little bump in electrical

Try to bleed the system. Also keep an eye on the coolant level. If it drops and you see no leaks the you could have a blown head gasket. Also replace the thermostat and hoses.

Engine cooling fan will not opperate

check that you have a thermal switch to switch on the fan and not a temp sender unit. One completes the curcuit when a set temp is reached ,the other is a resistance unit that lowers the voltage which in turn reads hotter on the gauge.

u need to take somewhere and have codes scanned (most parts store do this for free) my best guess is it probably a bad coolant temp sensor (u have 2 of them one for gauge and one for computer) one that probably bad is one for computer (should be one with two wires)(one with one wire is for gauge) if temp sensor is reading that the motor hot it will adjust air/fuel ratio for a hot motor but if motor is actually cold it run bad
But to know for sure u need to at least get codes scanned

HELP!! Having electrical issues with my 2005 Pontiac

electical is hard to diagnose with out being there. i would treat each problem seperately. first you will need to test the engine temp gauge sending unit. in a dealership this is easy with a scanner they can run a sweep test to se if the gauges are responding.you don't want the engine to over heat if the gauge is not working. next problem the dome light should be easy to fixe does the dome light work with the dome switch?remove the bulb and with the doors open and switch on check for voltage, if voltage check connection and or replace bulb. if no voltage check fuses for voltage.last will need to have the dtc po243 checked out by a repair shop. i hope this will help.
