Re: How do I reset a timing chain on a Volvo c70 2001.
The engine does not have a chain. If the belt broke or came off for some reason the engine will need to be disassembled and all the bent valves replaced.

I did a Youtube video that shows the exact location of the chain and timing marks for the Volvo 2005 XC90. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPEJAXmYZ8U&feature=youtu.be
well timing on a volvo can some times a pain I would say start with ( with out looking at my self ) checking the timing belt or chain is not broken, by looking in side the oil fill cap at the cam shaft to see if it is moving. If the cam is moving it may have jumped time. you would need to reset the timing, also check your harmonic balencer for proper alingment to the crank shaft, and timing marks line up . look for timing mark alingment in your owner's manul.
hope this helps you if it dosen't please give me more information on your problem with the timing in detail.
Your car actually has a timing belt that should be changed along with the tensioner at 70,000 Miles. In the past, I have found that the first question people ask is when was the timing belt replaced.
