SOURCE: 99 SATURN SC1 WONT START

Hi! Pancho,
Looking at the brief outline of your problem it may be due to ignition switch failure? You obviously seem a competant Mechanic by all the jobs you have done already?
Have you tried Hot wiring the starter? (Take a insulated live+ wire from the battery and flash the solenoid)
Or if it is easier remove the block from behind the ignition switch and hot wire from there as I think it is this that's the fault.
A common problem on Vw's you twist the key all the way but the starter connection doesn't make so the solenoid on the starter doesn't get power.
Hope this FixYa'Z problem!

SOURCE: 1996 saturn. check engine light

crank it up and pull one of the battery cables off and if it cuts off it's the alternator.

SOURCE: wont start, new battery, relay good, starter good.

Check the Starter Solenoid mounted near the battery.Check it out in the dark...have someone try to start it and see if it sparks at the solenoid.connections may be loose. Also check/wiggle wiring harness to starter.

99 saturn sl1 replaced new starter car wont start no crank battery is good new spark plugs aand boots. Car still no start no crank has dash lights and dings

You still have a problem with your starter. Sounds like you missed the wires going to the solenoid which engages the bendix.
Recheck the wiring.
It could also be a bad starter from the parts store. Won't be the first time.

If it won't even ''crank'', then it is probably a bad ignition switch. If it does ''crank'', then there are too many possibilities for internet diagnosis. (But if _no crank_ after starter and battery replacement, it's a good bet that it's a bad ignition switch).

My 01 Saturn sc will not start

If it is making any noise when you turn the key then most likely it is the battery. Other wise check the battery and the starter. Also there is a solenoid normally located just above the radiator that if not working properly will keep the car from cranking. It is a safety feature.

I have put new starter on 01 satrun sc 3d new battery now it won't start and the positive post gets hot and smokes what's wrong

You have a shorted wire. Check to make sure all the wires are on correctly and are tight. Also check for pinched, chaffed or corroded wires in the system.

I have replace my starter on 01 Saturn sc 3 d the battery smokes when turned on

no such thing as an sc3. the next model after the sc2 was named the ion. As the saying goes, loose wires start fires. Either your battery is really weak, or there's a loose wire somewhere. 25347441-u40lsvyytnuesyuv3fbafhtd-3-0.jpg 25347441-u40lsvyytnuesyuv3fbafhtd-3-1.jpg

Saturn SC wont turn over

when it comes to DC electricity like on automobiles. DC current wants a really good connection. check and make sure the wires at the alternator you just installed are tight. check the tightness of the battery cable connections at the battery. check the tightness of the main cable that goes straight to the starter. small things like the dome lights ect.... will still work many times when the connection is not so good, but big current items like the starter need a good hard connection to work. sometimes when the connection is sub par, the starter will just make a clicking noise but wont turn over the engine.
