How to reprogram key fob after jump starting dead battery.

I had to jump start my 2004 S430 after battery went dead, I reset everything by the owners manual. I cannot now get the Smart keys to lock, unlock or open truck. The red lights blink on the keys but no response from the car. Am I missing a resetting step that's causing this or is it something else, any help is appreciated.

Check the fuses.

If not you will need a sophisticated scan tool to program the keys.

Yes the key needs to be reprogramed to the car. Unfortunately that will have to be done by the dealer. Make sure that you have plenty of proof that you are the owner. They will reprogram it but you will not take posession of the car until you prove it is yours.

SOURCE: car remote keys won't open the car

Look in the manual to see how to make the car "learn" the remote's code. Failing that, look for a box with lot of wires under a seat or find where computer that controls that is in your car. Press the learn button on the box, and push the door lock button on the remote a couple times.

How to reset immobilizer without key. My door locks were changed by previous owner and it works great in ignition but not door locks. Can I replace dead battery and the immobilizer relay?

The door locks are electronically operated by the key fob communicating to the ECM or BCM. The Immobilizer works by the transponder in the key communicating to the receiver near the ignition lock, and communicating to the ECM to allow all the items needed to start the vehicle.

It sounds like you just need an auto-electrician or the dealership to reprogram everything.

How to reprogram key fob after jump starting dead battery.

what you are missing is that the key fob relates to the immobiliser that has a corrupt program from the dead battery. The keys will be ok so use a scanner to reset the immobiliser in the cpu program. Just reset the ecm and the immobiliser will reset

My astrostart system will only start my truck with a key in the ignition. The batteries in the fob had gone dead and when I replaced them, it did not start at all. I went through the reprogram process...

take the key and the vehicle to a service dealer as sometimes it is necessary to have the key reprogrammed to the immobiliser in the CPU program
