I bought a Toyota Ipsum 2009 but found that the Navigation and Radio system is in Japanese; I need to know if there is a way to change the default language to English. Or is there another system I can purchase that's in English.
Try and find a menu section of the system by changing the modes of operation. If you can get to the menu section there will be a language drop down section that you can highlight and save

You have discovered some of the main pitfalls in buying a model which has only ever been designed for the Japanese domestic market.
You won't find an English manual, end of. It was never intended for English speaking markets so Toyota never went to the time and expense of producing the manual you ask for. Likewise any onboard graphics and operating assistance screens will not usually have alternative language choices.
It's also very unlikely that the video will ever work in anything other than the Japanese version of NTSC. It either has a universal decoder chip, and may offer (in Japanese) to reset the region coding for you, or it won't.
About the only thing you might get working (I presume you're in Europe) is the FM radio, but as Japan uses a different set of frequencies to Europe you'll need to fit a frequency expander to the radio (commonly available online or at car audio shops), but the frequencies shown on the display will remain incorrect.
One fix is to find a RHD 2007 Corolla at a scrapyard (not exactly common as the Corolla hasn't been supplied to Europe since before 2007) and to transplant the entire entertainment system across, but it will likely be of a far lower specification to your model. As you may have to obtain this from Australia/NZ it won't be cheap, and you won't know what you're getting until it arrives.
Your best fix is to learn Japanese!

SOURCE: HONDA INTERNAVI - English lang/software & operating instructions
Hi Peter, since there's no english language support in honda navi systems, my suggestion is to scrap the head unit and buy an aftermarket one. Kenwood or JVC 2-din units are compatible with Honda systems. If you have steering control, install SWI interface module (google: pac swi). If you have reverse camera, check that the player have CCD input. If the aftermarket unit have built-in GPS, make sure you load the map for your country. You can get a decent one for about USD400 (c/w CD / DVD / MP3 player and all those new stuffs).

HONDA INTERNAVI CAR NAVIGATION SYSTEM
I am in srilankan. I have bought a 2010 Honda Cr z imported from Japan. The car has an imporessive Honda Internavi Car Navigation System which intergrates Japanese GPS, mobile phone, reversing camera, audio, TV, DVD, CD etc on a touch screen and steering wheel control BUT all graphics and buttons are in Japanese script. Unfortunately the car didn't come with any instruction manuals. I want to know anything anyone else might know about the entire system, in English language please.
The audio system seems to rip CDS to a HDD.
The radio still receives a Japanese station
The TV picks up some local channels but only audio
The GPS still reads Japanese cities but is active, as if we are driving in Japan!
Plesae contact me if you might be able to help with providing English language instructions manuals, or information about how software might be updated to srilanka GPS and English instructions.
Cheers experts!

I found a language option but it only says that the navigator voice will now be in english, however the system continues to display menues in Japanese and once the radio is switched off and back on, the language still comes up in Japanese
