it sounds like the striker might be out of adjustment, or a spring came loose or broke
you can also try spraying some good penetrating oil due to the water that is kicked up from your rear tires will rust up these parts
Its called the rear glass latch or rear window latch. It would be available thru a dodge dealership, but obviously expensive. You may try a large parts store like Autozone or Pep Boyz. The third alternative is to call auto wreckers in your area. Its the same latch from 2000-2005 Liberty's. It isn't that hard to remove. The rear door panel needs to be removed, then the latch is attached with 2 bolts, and an electric cable.
Check the latch mechanism on the side of the door away from the hinge. The easiest way I can think of to do this is to push a large bolt (about the same size as the door latch pin on the frame) into the latch mechanism to simulate the door closing action. The latch should close over the bolt and not allow you to pull the bolt out in the door open direction unless you open the door handle.
If the latch works properly, check the door alignment to make sure it is actually engaging the pin.
Hi I have the same problem on my 1999 Carrea, I had the windows at the rear stuck down and the roof latch keeps open and closing, I have not solved this yet it could be a relay but it all started when I was opening and closing on the keypad, if you get the roof up and cant get the rear windows to close get the roof closed to a locking position and where the hood lock pulls back at the roof lock station slide a thin s crew driver up the side of the lock hook they close then, also a tip, if you stick your little finger in the hole where the hood lock goes and press both the rear window buttons up they close when the roof is down. if anyone knows why my hood wont lock please let me know
Which back window are you referring too? The side rear window or the back hatch window? Rear side window, if you can hear the motor turning it is most likely a broken cable located inside the door. Back hatch window, if it is not latching when you shut the window it may be that the latch is in the closed position with the window open. Try unlocking the latch with the key fob window control. Also inspect the latch and spray some lubricant on the mechanism. If possible try engageing the latch by hand with the window open. It should move and latch easily just by pushing on it with your finger. If it does not move freely or will not stay latched you might need to replace it
As for the error code, P0043 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 3) This refers to the oxygen sensor's heating element. It might be just a loose or broken wire. I would inspect it first before replacing it. As for the location, the O2 sensors are located on the exhaust before the catalytic converter. Your best bet is to get a service manual for exact locations.
Have a close look at the door latch and see if it is in the lock position. If it is, pull the door handle like your going to open the door and place a screw driver or a pen in the latch and pull it open and then try to close the door and see if the latch holds the door close. The chances are good since most GM products are interchange able, the salvage Yard should answer that for you and can tell you better short cuts then any body on how to replace parts. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted. Be glad to help.
Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.
