Hi ,
the most likely cause of this is a faulty micro-switch in the doorlocking mechanism on the drivers door,as for the trunk ,if you can`t open it via the remote control or the button inside the car, then it will be a fault in the boot locking solenoid or a blown fuse.It is possible that the 2 are related and that there is a fault in the central locking control module, but for this you will need to take it to a Jaguar trained garage.

How do I find out which fuse is for my dash board lights when I dont have my manual?

The door ajar light doens't have a separate fuse. But you can probably fix the problem in 15 minutes:
  1. Make sure all doors and trunk close tightly. Lean hard against each door, starting with the driver's, because it is the most likely since it gets the most use. Watch the light. If it goes out, you're halfway there - you've located the problem door.
  2. Squirt some WD-40 into each door's switch. They may be located near the hinge, or near the latch. Press the button repeatedly and then wipe it off. That may fix the problem.
  3. Next, it could be the alignment of the door and strike plate on the jamb. Adjust the latter until the light goes out.
If that doesn't do it:
  1. Dont worry about the battery going dead from the indicator light staying on - it draws too little current. But if a dome light (or trunk light) stays on, it will drain the battery in a number of hours.
  2. You didn't say whether the dome light stayed on. If so, or if you have any other information, please post it and I'll try to help you determine the next steps.
Has this helped ?

2008 explorer door locks not locking from door switches

This is not a good thing. Ford uses a computer called the GEM and that means General Electronics Module. It controls:
  • Low Coolant Indicator On Cluster
  • Brake Indicator on Cluster
  • DRL - Control
  • Wipers
  • AutoLamps
  • Rear Defrost
  • Interior Lamps(dome)
  • High Beam Indicator only (cluster)
  • Low Coolant indicator
  • Key-in Buzzer
  • Seatbelt indicator only (Cluster)
  • Trunk Pop Relay
  • Power Locks
  • Door Ajar Sensors
  • Door Keyless entry pad
  • Remote Keyless Entry
  • One Touch Down (power window)
  • Air Bag Tone
  • Anti Theft (perimeter Alarm) (SEL, or SE(s) with mods)
  • Lift gate ajar (wagon)
  • Liftgate Pop
  • Accessory Delay signal (accessory that work after engine off, prior to door ajar)
  • Battery Saver Relay signal (accessory that work after engine off, 15 mins) Map lights, vanity mirrors

They are located behind the radio in the dash and they are $$$ about 600 USD.

Interior dome lights stay on.

Make sure that the thumbwheel that makes dash lights brighter/dimmer is not all the way to bright. That will turn on dome light. Check fuse block for dome light relay, pull out the relay and see if light goes out, if so try replacing the relay. Possible welded contacts? If all that doesn't work you will have to try each door switch and see if you have a bad one.

The door keeps saying it is open and i replaced the door sensers but its not that can you help

Hello melvin... When the light stays on it usually means a door is open or the switch on a door or liftgate/trunk is bad. If the door adjar button is seperate from the latch assembly I pull the switch from the body and jump it out. Go one by one and you will find the failed switch. If the switches check ok and the connector is jumped and the light is still on then there is an open in the wires for the door ajar switch
Here are more procedures for troubleshooting...

Possible causes are :
1. Door switches stuck in closed position. Remove the rubber cover and loosen the screw holding the door switch. Pull out switch and check if the light stays on....if light remains on, fault is not with switches.

2. Anti-theft system ECU shorted. One of the wire goes to the alarm control unit. Unplug the alarm unit, if equipped and test.

3. Shorted interior dome light. If dome light is not working in the door ajar mode, remove the dome light and unplug the connector. If indicator light does not go off, fault is not with dome light.

4. Shorted Red/White wire. This would be the most difficult to diagnose as the shorting can be anywhere between the door switches to the indicator light. If you had done any wiring repairs prior to this happening, backtrack to check if any part of the wire is exposed and grounding

Good luck...i hope this helps.

Ford Taurus SE 1999. Dome Light - Door Ajar indicator problem. This is an intermittent problem, hence far more difficult to isolate. OK. I will be thorough in describing this "set of problems" as I do...

i must say that i feel your pain with this,, my door ajar light does the same thing but my dome light doesn't come on when the doors are open, i have to flick the switch on the dome light to make it come on. In my opion and i stress my opion it saounds like a issue with the body controller, im not sure what ford calls it but it controls all the body functions, i dont think the low coolant light is connected to the body contoller but i dont know this for sure, i think that light is controlled bny the engine ecm. some times a dealer can connect to the body controller and see if there are any fault codes for circuits that it controls and or monitors, also they can reflash or update the configeration and or calibration level cause ford release's fixes for issues all the time, same theory works for any control module on a vehicle. i dont think any of the auto parts stores have the right program to connect to bofy controlers but i could be wrong, worth looking into. i only put up with mine cause i use it as a beater, if you are worried about your dome light staying on and drianing your battery then you could pull out or disconnect the dome lights for the time being, its not a fix but just a band-aid.

2001 Sequoia, door ajar light goes off, but dome light stays on. Door ajar light comes on with slight pressure against closed door. Can replacing the door jam switch solve this problem? Why would the door...

To temporarily solve the light problem, I taped a washer to the inside of the door where the door hits the plunger on the light switch. A permanent solution would be to drill a hole in the door at this spot and put a self taping screw in that will trigger the switch sooner. I figured out the reason the dome light stayed on is due to the courtesy light timer and the lights would have eventually gone off.

2001 Ford Escape, dome light will not go off when door shut, but door ajar light is dark?Could this be the door switch? are there different switches for the door ajar light and the dome light? How can I...

The door switch provides a ground to the dome light... so there is no danger to you if you want to attempt a removal of the switch. A rusted or shorted wire in the door switch (of any door) will keep the dome light on.
