The actual problem may be one of the door sensors which is inside the door latch. You could pull the dome lamp fuse but that will also kill the dome lights and possibly other circuits.

SOURCE: Toyota Camry 1991 door light stays on

You need to readjust the switch on your trunk door, or replace. To check it locate it, tape it down with duct tape and see if the light goes off. If not it's bad. If it does it means it isn't sticking out far enough to be turned off when the trunk is closed. The adjusment should be fairly obvious. If not you can simply unplug it which has the same result as turning it off.

SOURCE: hello, i have toyota emina

Sometime the switch is inside the door, under/inside the rubber cushion( seen it somewhere once). Obvioulsy the door is not properly shut. Have you tried a good slam shut. Here's another thing to look for. Check the wiring on the side door. Simetime they get hard and cut when bent. Happen to my Honda civic once. You could also be looking @ the wrong door or switch is left on @ all time from lite switch. Remove the bulbs if its such a big problem.

Dealer says only 5 of 6 sensors on sliding door are making a connection. The sensor not working is drawing power, effectively killing my battery every 3 weeks or so.

Does your vehicle sit for 3 weeks at a time? There will always be a draw on the battery. It is called a parasitic draw. This draw comes from computers and modules within the vehicle to maintain memories. If the vehicle sits for 3 weeks or more, this small drain will deplete the battery. If the vehicle is driven daily and every 3 weeks the battery goes dead overnight, the draw will have to be high. If the door is the problem, I would suspect the battery to be dead every morning. Removing the door fuse will illiminate the door as the problem. The life expectancy of an automotive battery is 5 years. Anything older can start to cause electrical problems.

My door ajar bell on my 1997 ford windstar won't stop ringing. the overhead light stays on also, even while driving. I have opened and closed all the doors, turned the van off and on again, and it is...

look around the car on each door, you will see a small black switch on wich the door shuts on. This switch when open brings on the light and bell. Go around and check by pushing each one of these in. This should stop the light/charm. It works on what is called an open circuit, if you check each of the sensors and the problem persists, then one of the sensors may be faulty or their is a broken wire somewhere in the circuit. For the mean time to stop your battery going flat, remove the interior light globe.

I want to know where the Coolant Temp sensor is on a 04 2.4 PT

the engine coolant temp sensor is in the assembly that the pressure cap (radiator cap) goes on. it's under the part that the cap goes on, closer to the engine block. you can see the wires and the plug going to it. here's the remove and replace step by step:
1. disconnect battery negative terminal (they always tell you to do that when you work on electrical parts)
2.partially drain cooling system below level of ect sensor
3.disconnect ect sensor
4.remove ect sensor
and to reinstall
1.install ect sensor torque to 168 in-lbs
2.connect sensor electrical connector
3.connect battery negative terminal
4.refill system with coolant
hope that helps

Door won't lock and alarm keeps sounding

It's always a good Idea to check fuses first, as that is the easiest thing to fix.  I would suspect if its not a fuse it may be the door open sensor, if you open the door there should be a device in the door frame of the car where the door connects to the car door hinges.  If you push that sensor in with your finger it should turn off the interior lights.  It may be wiring to that sensor, or the sensor itself, also the sensor may have worn out to the point where it does not push in enough to activate the switch anymore.  good luck.

Lincoln continental fuses

I have heard there is a door sensor relay that can cause this problem when it goes bad, however i have not been able to locate this relay.

What i did do to better the situation is pull fuse 31 (15amp) out of the fuse pannel under the driver side dash and this will disable all of the interior lights and nothing else. I know this does not fix anything but at least i dont get dead batterys anymore.
