Why does my Nissan presage loose drive when going slow or after driving for a very long distance. It will select all gears and at times stick in one gear thereby causing the rave counter to go very high

on some nissan, there is a problem in the mass air flow sensor when they are going bad,some times does not work and then works like nothing. try with a new one.

Why are you shifting?Use drive,reverse and park,changing gears makes it get slow in time,wearing your transmission out.

check oil in gear box if auto change filter and put new oil

Depends, do you have 4 wheel drive? If so you can just use 4 wheel high, or if things get really slippery, use 4 wheel low and go slow, both in the drive position on the transmission shifter.

If 2wd, just use drive and go slow, again, if it gets slippery out, you can shift down in gears to go slower and to keep your speed slow.

If you're talking about snow and ice on just streets, then stick with 4 wheel high with 4x4, or "drive" in 2wd. You typically don't want to switch to 3,2, or 1st gear at highway speeds.

If you're playing in the snow, just use 4x4 high until you get stuck, then switch to 4 low to get out.

The only time I switch gears with the transmission (from drive to 3,2, or 1) is when I want to go really slow and keep it there. However, when I "play" in the snow, it's Drive only.

Sounds like a bad overdrive clutch, it's in the torque converter and is not repairable, you have to replace the torque converter, this is somewhat common on high mileage automatics, usualy it sticks locked, when you put it in gear it makes a clang and unlocks, but locks up as you drive and won't unlock when you slow down like it's supposed to

sounds like this one simply will not go into gear at all, either the clutch is worn out (They're vry small snd weak) or possibly a sticking valve body.

this needs to go to the dealership garage, NEVER go to Mr Transmission type places they'll want to overhaul it whatever's wrong, they don't waste time on diagnosis

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A CV JOINT IS BAD THE SOUND SHOULD GET WORST WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN GOING SLOW

The EGR valve sticking, loose wires, bad ground connections, dirty connections, fuel pressure dropping out, vacuum leaks, or any combination of several of these at about the same time.
