The key symbol on the dash normally will go out when the ignition is turned on, if it doesn't, you have a security system issue as I'm sure you've already guessed. I would start by checking the fuse box under the hood on the drivers' side of the engine compartment for blown fuses, this could be as simple as just a blown security system fuse. The under side of the fuse box lid should have all of the fuse labeling locations, you can also look in your owners manual for fuse locations and definitions. If you don't find any blown fuses you will have to go to someone who has a scan tool that can pull security system codes, the generic scan tools can only pull engine/transmission codes. You could have a blown fuse, bad relay, bad blower motor resistor pack, or just a bad blower motor. Start with checking your fuse to make sure you have power to you blower motor.

Some of the fuses are under the hood, check your owner's manual. Mine is located on the right side near the front of the engine compartment.Mine also has extra fuses in the engine fuse compartment.
