Started making clicking noise in steering

Haven't tried anything because I have no idea why it is making that noise. I am worried the steering might be going out. Do you know why its making the clicking noise in both directions. It just started doing this.

The CV joint is going Bad. It's part of the drive shaft. Can get one for $60.00 to $80.00 at autozone . When do you hear the clicking sound , when making a sharp turn ?

Testimonial: "No, just turning in general"

Clunking noise when turning the steering wheel at stationary.

When rocking the steering there is usually some noise from a steering system that has a few miles on it especially from the majority of power steering types as not only is the rack slipper bearing likely to make noise but also the hydraulic spool valve and possibly even the rack end bush.
Sometimes the clunking noises can be worrying they are so loud.

If there are steering stops on the lower arms and hubs the noise can be very loud on full lock and a moving vehicle.

There might be track rod problems but there is no point guessing - the car has to be inspected, jacked up and the wheels shook to check for wear and free play and on the ground the steering wheel has to rocked while the steering gear is inspected.

If inspection finds nothing the noise is clearly caused by "acceptable" wear...

My 06 Nissan Xterra just started making a loud clicking noise after driving it in 4wd for a short period of time. It seems to come from the front driver side wheel area. The noise lasted for about 2 days...

Have someone check the u joint in the cv shaft for that wheel.. they make a clicking noise when 4wd is engaged.. it puts a load on the shaft.. .. often cheaper to just replace the cv shaft

Mitsibishi lancer coupe 1999. steering wheel makes plastic scrapin noise when turning. I have repositioned the steering wheel with the lever. Checked for anything stuck in there. Cleaned etc. Nothing...

if you haven't removed the steering & checked for something loose you may have to,it could also be that the bearing at the top of the steering column (if there is one) needs to be greased or replaced......hope this helps......cheers.

On the highway, car began to make noise when foot taken off excelerator, runs fine, until in coast. on way to Florida, have any ideas?

Maybe one idea. Going to Florida has nothing to do with the noise except makes you scared being away from home. Sometimes front wheel bearings go bad-all of a sudden. Not bad where the wheel will fall off but starting to make a noise like a airplane prop. A humming low pitch sound but almost constant. Not enough to feel it in steering wheel. If this decribes your sound-noise chances that is what it is. DON'T worry you can travel many, many miles with this noise. My mini van started doing it 20,000 miles ago. I got the parts but it's a bear to replace. I hope this helps you. If you need parts go to ebay.

98 chev blazer wont start or make any noises...

Listen for a click from under the steering column when you turn the key on. If you hear no electrical click then your ignition switch could be bad. If you hear an electrical click the you starter soleniod is bad.

Ignition turns but no start

it is an issue in the steering column. I am getting my 2005 back today, finally. 2 mechanics and they said they have never seen this issue before!!
The steering wheel has to be pulled off and the part replaced. It is cutting all power to the ignition switch. It is not the starter or the Alternator... it is in the steering column. It should be about 200.00 to fix.
