It may "jump and go" but it's because the transmission downshifted and you get the sensation of more power.
First step? Need history: mileage, last tune up, is the check engine light on, etc. I'd suspect a partially plugged catalytic converter but without more info we're running blind.

SOURCE: car keep shutting down

SOUNDS LIKE THE IDLE AIR VALVE IS CARBONED UP TRY SPRAYING CARBURETOR CLEANER INTO AIR INTAKE AT THE THRUTTLE BODY WHILE HOLDING IDLE SPEED AROUND 1500 TO 1900 RPMS USUALLY AFTER SPRAYING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES ABOUT HALF A CAN THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ...IF THIS DOES NO GOOD YOU MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE IDLE SPEED REPROGRAMED IN THE ECM WITH THE DEALERS DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL....USUALLY FOR AROUND 50 TO 60 BUCKS HOPE THIS HELPS

SOURCE: when driving, the car is jumping and will cut off

Your timing is off, need new alternator, or get the free Nissan recall done where they reprogram the computer to run at higher RPM.

SOURCE: terrano gearbox keeps jumping out of overdrive and

Nissan Terrano's have an Electronic Computer that controls the gearbox. It is hidden behind the left hand rear Speaker box, right hard up against the rear seat back rest. This system controls all functions regarding the gearbox and it's rev rates. If your vehicle is shifting back on long drives then it is possible that the computer sees any slight increase in revs as a desire to "Kickback" the gearbox to a lower gearing, hence it dropping out of overdrive. Unfortunately a gearbox specialist with a computer "Plug-in" is needed to fix this, but it is fixable. This problem should not be too expensive in comparison with a new gearbox.

SOURCE: The car loses power going up a hill even though

check fuel filter and system for clogs/low fuel pressure.
Also check the air filter.

I have a 1998 Nissa Maxima with 277K+ miles. I bought this car new and it has run great over the years. Recently when turnig the key to start (cold or hot)the engine starts to crank but sometimes "kicks"...

consider the cost of any work vis a vis the cost of replacing (your pet) bet it works out cheaper to recycle.......( you have to go to switzerland for euthenasia, wonder where cars go.....?)
