Itā€™s possibly the charge of refrigerant. If itā€™s low it maybe switching off and on. There is possibilities of other things but thatā€™s a good place to start.

Two things to check freon pressure and inline/ fuze box to insure the a/c compressor is not blown. A/cs have a low pressure switch which shuts off power to the compressor to prevent. It is rare for them to go bad but if other checjs don't ressolve the problem look there. If your dryer is intact you can changevthis USUALLY without having to open up the system thus losing freon.

Hi, my best advise is to have your air check for freon leaks ,low freon causes the compresor cluth to stop working ,this can cause the air to blow hot .......

SOURCE: AIR CONDITIONING NOT COLD IN 1997 HONDA CIVIC

Reguardless of how old the car is should make no difference as too how cold the AC is blowing. I have a 1997 Honda Civic with 215,000 miles on it and it still runs great, so yours is just barely broken in :) Maybe you need some refrigerant (R-134) added to make it colder? As to the power issue of the car, all air conditioners take appoximately 5-10 horsepower away from a cars engine when turned on. Have you ever had your spark plugs changed? That is usually cheap $10 - $20 if you do it yourself or probably $50 - $75 if you take it to a mechanic, and it makes a big difference in power. ( Make sure they use NGK spark plugs, that is what Honda uses) Also, on your other post about the timing belt which YES you do have a timing belt and not a chain, I have always been told to change the timing belt AND WATER PUMP at every 90,000 miles. The water pump should be changed because if it locks up it will break the new belt they just put on and then the damage I talk about later will happen to the engine. That should cost you around $250 - $400 depending on where you take it? preferably a Honda dealer because it may cost a little more but they know their stuff. It is important to change it because if it breaks it will cause your valves in the engine to get bent and then you will basically need a new motor at that point. Lastly, if you want to find the year of your car then look inside the drivers side door frame, there will be a VIN number and a manufacture date. Well I am sure this is more than you ever wanted to know about your car but there you go:)

SOURCE: Front air condition does not blow cold. Rear air condition does

sounds like a damper door in the front not working properly, these are actuated by the front temp control, the door is operated by either a manual cable, and electric actuator, or vacuum. I hope this helps you zero in on your problem. Merry Christmas

SOURCE: air condition blows hot air but it has freon

You may have created an over charged condition and at this point the a/c compressor will cut off on high head pressures. This can be verified by installing gauges to the systems high and low side service taps and reading the pressures. An overcharged system will start the compressor briefly but soon cuts off once pressure goes to 350 - 400 lbs on the high side. Acceptable pressures for this system should be no greater than 250 high and low suction should drop to 40-50 psi.You might recover the charge and evacuate the system, then try bringing the charge back to proper level.A sight glass in the reciever drier really helps determining proper fill.Once all bubbles have dissipated from the sight glass during charging ,one should stop at that point to avoid overfilling.Too much freon is worse than a low charge especially in hot ambient conditions....

Air conditioning blows hot and cold air

You will need to know if the compressor is working when it blows hot air to proceed. It could be an electrical problem, a blend door problem, or the a/c clutch on the compressor.

2006 crown Victoria blows hot air with the air conditioner on the air condition lines are cold under the hood

sounds like the temperature blend door is either jammed or the actuator is shorted ou. when the temperasture control is moved you should hear the door moving...my guess is you are not hearing that..the actuator would be attached to the heater plenum behind dash/glovebox area...becareful to test the correct one as there will be a fresh air actuator and a mode door actuator as well...you can determine which one is which by changing the positions on heater head from hot/col, floor/defrost, recirculate and fresh air settings..each setting will move its designated actuatror..the one not moving would be you temp actuator....have fun!

My air conditioning blows cold air when driving. However, when I am waiting in a car line the cold air stops and it blows air that is warm. What is the problem?

Does your temp gauge go up at the same time?
Check your radiator fan and make sure it comes on when the temp comes up.(sitting in traffic)

Check engine light on, temp gauge in hot position, cold air blowing in compartment

If the temp gauge is hot and cold air is blowing in the passenger compartment, then I would say there would be a blockage or series of blockages in the cooling system. Flush it out and refill with new antifreeze/coolant mixed at 50/50 water to coolant concentration.

Check the codes to see what else may be wrong with the engine.

The air conditioning suddenly stopped blowing cold. It just blows room temperature air. It was working fine and then all of a sudden a few days ago it stopped. I have tried to put the A/C on auto climate...

you should check if there is gas on the air system, if you say the compressor its engaged all time perhaps you have a gas leak or too much low pressure on the gas system, its recomended that this work is done by a pro, as it involves hazardous gases and delicate procedures.
