What could cause my drivers side power seat to stop moving forward and backward?

sounds like you might have a switch problem if the memory for seat position works ok. If you have a multimeter that checks for continuity then you could start there at the switch but you would also need a wiring diagram for the seats

2009 impala driver side power seat won't move up/down, makes whirring sound when attempted. Moves forward backward. Passenger seat works properly.

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved

Only the left side of the drivers side seat moves when you try to adjust the seat forward or backward

You don't idicate whether it's a power or manual seat. Assuming it's a manual seat there is a link between the rails under the seat. It can become disconnected preventing the right rail lock from unlocking.

The power seat adjuster has stopped moving the seat forward/backward but will adjust the seat up/down. I can't find anything obstructing its path. Is there a simple explanation for this? Jeep Liberty 2002.

Those power seats have two power motors. One moves it up and down. The one that moves the seat forward and backwards must have gone bad. Have it checked and replaced if necessary.

Push forard on the drivers side electric set and

It isn't wired wrong. Mine does the exact same thing, but it didn't used to be backwards and the wiring has never been changed.

The electric front seats both stopped moving

Check the fuse box for a blown fuse, both seats may operate on one fuse depending on the model of vehicle and the fuse may be located either under the dash on the drivers side or in the engine compartment on the drivers side.

I just purchased a 2007 jeep liberty sport

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty and the smae lever that tilts the seat also moves it forward and back. Press forward or back on the switch. Also check for blown fuse or a loose wiring connector under the drivers seat. Good luck, Techjoel
