I have a 1993 Land Cruiser in which the radio has no power, fuse is good, it has a security system that possibly locked it out. How do I reset it?

I checked the fuse which is good. That's all there is to do.

Hi Michael Miller, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

    like:
no radio model number stated, (sticker )
are both fuses measure 12vdc on the radio.
power keyon , and lamp dial (park lamps on)
with a meter, not guessing? 12vdc at radio wires
and radio case ground wire are connected to ground?
    if yes, , yes, yes
    then".
does the radio dial light up in park?
does the radio , display shows stations.?
can you scan stations, see it try to work?
    does the Cassette fail too?
    IS AM and FM dead.
or just sound dead, but radio seems to work ?
if radio has CD, its not 1993 radio.so.....?

if the radio is OEM and way newer the codes
are NOT free, they are sold. sorry but that is
    a fact (hacking ,not withstanding)

    http://www.radio-code.com/ToyotaPayPager...

    modern OEM radios TOY
    either ask for code.
or work perfect , but no sound comes out.
    so...... tell more get more,
    fixed 1000s. since 1965. retired.
even huge transmitters and complex radio system. USN.

SOURCE: I don't have the security code for radio on my 97

You have to go to your local Toyota dealership with proof of ownership of the vehicel. Once that is proven they will be more than happy to issue you the security code for your vehicle. If you do not take your vehicle with you, make sure you at least have the vin number as they will need it to get your code.

SOURCE: swapping out radio from salvaged

Is the salvaged radio EXACTLY the same as the original radio? Are you sure everything is plugged in correctly? If the radio is not EXACTLY the same. the circuits could be different and the wiring harnesses may not provide power at the correct pins on the radio. Also, do you have the security code for the salvaged vehicle? The code for your radio will not work in the salvaged vehicle radio.
Also check to be sure that you did not cause the fuses to blow when disconnecting/connecting radio components. If you attempted this job without first disconnecting the battery cable, there is a very good likelyhood that this has occured. Damage to the salvaged radio could also have occured if the salvage vehicle battery was not disconnected during removal of the salvaged radio.

Cygnus land cruiser drains battery in two days

dont know much about the land cruiser, check draw on the fuses, each fuse should read low draw and one of them will be higher than the rest like one will show up near 1 volt or more and theres your issue, check what that fuse goes to and inspect it, usually people install after market add ons wrong and wire it to a constant power source.

1992 80 series land cruiser 1hdt pushing coolant back into over flow bottle had pressure test which was all good new cap and new thermostat but still with problem

Just two possibilities. First would be the air wasn't purged completely out of the system. Second is a blown head gasket. And yes, I have seen a good pressure test on the coolant side (15 to 18 PSI). But the pistons throw out 100+ PSI. Check or have checked, the coolant system for exhaust gas. There is a test for it.

Where does diff lock display come on dash or button

diff lock displays on dash and is opperated by a dial to the left of the steering column. the center diff lock is operated by a button in the center dash and locks your center differential, making your front and rear driveshafts turn at the same speed. the front and rear differentials lock either your front or rear or both differentials making each wheel on the same axle turn at the same speed. all of these features are for increased traction in off road and wet conditions and situations

Toyota Land Cruiser check timimg Belt

Hi,

I am assuming that you have a series 80 diesel engine and that it has run for about 100,000 kms hence the warning light and the changing of the timing belt. Based on the instructions of its repair manual you need to "remove the grommet off from the speedometer and turn off the lamp by pushing the warning light reset switch, then replace the grommet." Alternately, you can try to reset the entire computer of the vehicle by removing the battery cables for a couple of minutes. Pls note that some car radios/head units would revert to security default (ask for a code) when power is completely removed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Radio problems

Well I would suggest you replace the missing fuses and see what happens. The radio as well as some other component may be operational again. I would also suggest you start with a low amp rating fuse possibly starting with 10 amp fuse and gradually increasing to satisfy the demand of the circuit. If this does not correct the problem it would be best to have a certified tech check the electricial system for your specific problem.
