You have to start at the battery. Is it fully charged? It should show at least 12.6 volts to verify a good battery. If it is less than 12 volts, it will not start the engine anyway, so it must be tested and recharged if good, or replaced if bad. Next the positive and negative cables at both ends of them must be clean and tight. By now you should be able to have headlights and other accessories. And the key turned to on should light up all the warning lights and gauges on the dash, and when turned to "start", the engine should be cranking over and then run.

If the car is completely dead, start at the battery. If you still suspect fuses, next check all the maxi fuses- the power distributors right after the battery. Only one of them would cause whole differing circuits to not have power.

SOURCE: I need a wiring diagram for a 98 chevy suburban.

above the steering column there is a 6 way plug, it is an actual jumper harness to the brake switch it is held in place by a rosebud, pop the rosebud out and check the plug for being fully seated, I have seen many of these that have been partially pulled apart and it actually breaks the circuit/and can short it out, other than that if thats o.k. then your turn signal switch in column is defective.

What type of transmission cable do i need to make the chevy prizm 98 drive in all gears ? Currently it can't reverse

I don't think the cable is your problem. Try changing the transmission filter and fluid first. This should have been done at 80,000 miles. Its a 98 so its probably past due.

2001 chevy prizm 1.8 vacuum and coolant line routing

This happened to my 2001 chevy prizm and it was a fuse blown. The fuse box next to the steering wheel is where it was located. The little box that says "storage only" has to be taken out. Its a blue number 15 fuse. Once I changed it it blew again and it ended up being My front passenger turn signal bulb needed changed. But if you just change the fuse and it stays then it's only the fuse. Hope this helps.

12/98 geo prizm headlights wont work but the tail lights do

12?
first of the Prizm's are toyota corolla in Geo snake skins
the later is easy to find parts and books, big time easier.

so what you need is a thing called schematic,
can you read them? if not , its just a wild guessing game.
we use that book and a volt meter, and find them all.

so did you check fuses first
does engine run, and all other electrics, are ok (shoe falls off other foot question)....!!!!
Fuse, car has 2 fuse boxes, cab and hood.
it will be marked clearly Head or Headlamps... clear.
can be 2 fuses on some.
and has a head light relay.
so lets to the HL test.
both dead?
high and low dead.?
does the HL flash feature work, per oper. guide, you pull the stalk lever against this spring inside and the HL flash , do they?

l''ll not guess any of this or whats wrong,
but if you answer and have a voltmeter, we can find them all.

98 chevy prizm headlights will not go off when turned off

Does your Prizm have automatic headlights (possibly called "Twilight Sentinel" in the mfr. literature)? These systems are notoriously unreliable. Sometimes the control module goes bad for no apparent reason, while other times it fails due to a bad ground in the under-dash wiring harness. Unless you're an electrician, it's best to have it repaired by a dealer. Be prepared for price shock - the module alone is over $250 new retail, not including labor to replace it. There are several variations of the module too, so if you get a used one you need to be sure to get the right one. If it failed because of bad wiring (which was not fixed at the time of replacement), the replacement will fail too in a very short time, possibly immediately.

If you want to tackle the repair yourself, you need to know that the control module is falsely referred to in the wiring diagrams as a DRL "relay". Some Prizm models may have 2 DRL relays, one of which really is a simple relay but the other is the electronic module.

If you happen to have some knowledge of electronics, it's possible to build a bypass circuit which will completely remove the DRL and Twilight Sentinel functions (leaving your car with plain old-fashioned manual headlight control only), using parts of the failed module as a mounting and connection platform, a few wires, and three transistors.

How do check the automatic transmission fluid in a chevy prizm

On 98 Prizm, just open the hood and pull the transmission dipstick out of the top of the transmission. Wipe the fluid off the dipstick with a rag and then reinsert the dipstick into the transmission.

Pull the dipstick back out and check the fluid level. The dipstick has markings to show you where the low and full points are on the stick.

Good luck.
