94 Toyota previa locks up when in reverse. If the wheels are straight, it may go alittle before locking up. What could this be? I need front rotars & someone said it could be a warped rotar. I haven't had any transmssion problems .

When the vehicle was delivered all the keys and locks matched. Something went wrong in-between?
If you only need a key as a back up, because if is electric, you can have a spare key cut if the locksmith uses an impressioning tool which provides a profile of the key which can then be cut. Have two made, keep one at home and one in the glove box.
You need a new auto locksmith, it should be an easily guessable key cut.
there is a load on the lock pin in the steering column try turning the steering wheel a bit left or right to release the pin as you try turning the key.
Steering wheel locks never lock straight ahead as the idea is that if the car is being stolen it will turn a circle rather that move straight
I would first try & move the steering wheel as you are trying to turn the ignition lock , it may take a few tries & also a fair bit of force on the steering wheel . This problem usually occurs with the steering wheel turned , ie the front wheels are not straight.
Hope this solves your problem , let me know how you go
The problem concerning low gear locked up sounds like a bad primary shift solenoid (located on the valve body internally) the other issue with the forward gear only engaging with the rpm up to 1800 could be inadequate hydraulic pressure (a transmission front pump issue), most likely there is no problem with the pump if when shifting the selector lever into reverse it engages quickly and normally. This may be a transmission computer issue and I would recommend having the dealership do a diagnostic check on the transmission to eliminate the computer as a culprit. transmission problems are very difficult to figure out and before spending a lot of money get the electrical diagnostic done first.
91-97 Land Cruisers had a factory option for front and rear locking differentials. This is a seperate switch and is usually located to the left of US model Land Cruisers. The center dash button locks your transfer case differential changing your Land Cruiser from all wheel drive to four wheel drive depending if you have ABS or not this button either says ECT or Center Dif Lock. If you do not have the Front/Rear locking differential option then your Land Cruiser has open Front and Rear. Hope this answers your question.
