What car, XJ ended in 2001
or the KJ ?
Model years 2002-07), also known as the Jeep Liberty in North America
or grand Cherokee.?

what are you doing
, we can';t guess that here?
CAM timing?
spark timing,?
the Balance shaft?
what country is this an Export jeep.

eg: , i removed my engine heads and......
eg: i removed my coil pack and did not mark the wires.

the 3.7l has no spark timing, its FIXED. by 3 ways.
so....?? what job>?

ill answer now for 3.7L 2005
our 3.7 (usa our)
COPS , that is , 6 coils over plugs. hard wired, so firing order is ECU controlled, 100%
that leaves the pulley marks, (the book shows no adjustment possible)
quote
Ignition timing is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). No adjustment is possible.
Unquote

so my guess, wild you must be fiddling cams?
are you?
the Timing CHAIN? if yes, say so
or better why not log in to alldata.com
and read that, then ask questions not clear in the FSM or there.
my guess on cam
is step 11a you get stuck

The idler sprocket must be timed to the counterbalance shaft drive gear before the idler sprocket is fully seated.

I need a diagram of the timing chain marks for a 2005 jeep grand cherokee 3.7L

You should have cylinder #1 at TDC, make sure the timing marks line up exactly then you just throw your belt on and you're good to go. You can't mess this up, the marks are clearly visible

When driving my 05 jeep cherockee the heat blows out warm but when stop it blows out cold

the first thing I would check is the coolant level. Top off as necessary. Then see if the no heat symptom resolves itself. If the level goes low again in a short period of time than you have a coolant leak.

You may be able to find it with a visual inspection. Other times the cooling system will need to be pressurized in order to find the leak.

If the coolant level is not low than it is possible that the heater core has become plugged. If the coolant is nasty than this could be a possibility. Back flushing the heater core may help.

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.

I am looking for a spark plug/distributor wiring diagram for a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Plug wire order is: 153624 on six cyl 4.0 and 18436572 for v8.
#1 cylinder on 6cyl is the front one and on V8 is front on driver side.
1357 left side, 2468 right side. #1 on cap is easily found by turning the crankshaft till the timing mark aligns with 0. but that can be 180 degrees off unless rotor points away from the block (6) or towards the front of the engine (8)..

Distrbutor to spark plug wiring

Hey there janandshane,

I've got a 91 Wrangler, lots of fun. Here's your info.

Viewed from above, front of vehicle on the right side, cylinder locations are:
6 5 4 3 2 1 for a six cylinder and 4 3 2 1 for a four Cylinder

The firing order is:
1 5 3 6 2 4 for the six and 1 3 4 2 for the four.

The distributor rotation is clockwise.

To find Top dead center (for wire to cylinder #1 on distributor), look for and line up the timing marks on the crankshaft (front of the engine).

Or, pull the #1 spark plug, stuff the hole with a cork or a rag. Slowly crank the engine until the cork pops out.

Pull the distributor off. The rotor is pointing where the plug for cylinder #1 should go. The rest of the wires go in the firing order clockwise.

That about covers it.

Remember: Good things come to those who rate. How about a nice FixYa?

Mike
