How do I program new key switch to car after installing a new one

Ford PATS - anti - theft system . You will need to have it towed to ford to have key's programmed to the vehicle . Or call a mobile lock smith that can program ford key's .

have a new ignition switch installed with new keys and get it programed to the car.

I disagree. If you have a key that starts the car then the immobilisor is good. A new remote can be easily programmed, and a new key can too.

The lock is not properly engaging the washer that moves the switch actuating rod. Remove the cylinder and reinstall, ensuring the rod moves the switch as the lock is turned.



To install:

1. Verify the ignition switch is in the on position and the actuator rod is properly installed in the switch.
2. Rotate the cylinder clockwise to align cylinder key with the keyway in the housing.
3. Push the lock all the way in.
4. Install the screw.
5. Tighten the screw to 14 inch lbs. (1.5 Nm) for adjustable columns and 25 inch lbs. (2.8 Nm) for standard columns.
6. Re-center the SIR coil assembly.
7. Install the turn signal switch and steering wheel
8. .Connect the negative battery cable, enable the SIR system.

Sounds like the electrical part of the ignition switch, not the lock cylinder that needs replacing.
Possible also that cutting that wire to the security module immobilized it.

Yes,it should work once you install the new switch unless they tore up the wiring.

you need to first install one of factory key into ignition.turn ignition switch on position for 5 seconds.switch off the ignition and remove key.wait 7 seconds insert new key into ignition switch.and switch ignition on until alarm system warning lamp will flash twice mean key programmed. switch ignition off if warning light illuminate for 3 seconds to confirm or flash 3 times indicate registration has failed. if you fail on programming new key let dealership reprogram new keys using diagnostic equipment.

If this is a new ignition for an auto parts store the key that came with it is not programmed to start the car. You actually have to take that key to the dealer and have one cut for your ignition.

sorry short answer but this is a dealer only diagnostic machine only on any vehicle newer than 2005 .So book it into the dealer .
