It could be you have a fault in the Diode pack in the alternator you need to get this checked at an alternator repair center.

You probably didn't run it long enough to charge up the battery. Put a voltmeter on it and see if it needs charging, or get it charged up, or get another jump and run it for a half hour and then see if battery is charged up enough to start the engine.

If the security light is on or flashing, you may need to reset the security system.

Daughter hit a curb with a ford focus 2005 now the battery wont stay charged. Replaced battery all was fine started the next day. After driving the car died nothing worked got a jump and car ran like no...

1. Check all the cable connections on the battery and on the alternator.

2. If they are all fine then have the alternator checked because from what you have described it is not charging. The usual problem is worn brushes in the alternator.

Started it ran about 25 mins. then died when drive it

I'm guessing you have to jump the car to get it running? It runs fine for a little while then dies? If so, this is the alternator. The alternator keeps your battery charged up while the vehicle is running. If you are mechanically inclined, you can probably get away with replacing only the brushes in the alternator. On most models there is a small cover where you can remove the brushes for replacement. Many times alternators are replaced needlessly when a few dollars could be spent on brushes and the vehicle could go another 100k miles.

Good luck!

White smoke, battery wont hold a charge

If your battery is bad, you can jump start it sometimes but it's running off your alternator...After doing this many times it will kill your alternator also..You can go by almost any auto shop and they will check your battery and alternator free...But it sounds like the battery

Vehicle was parked and not started for 2 months.

Hi, there will be diodes in the generator that are letting the power from the battery drain away through the parked times when not in use. to prove it charge the battery- then disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, connect 24 hours later and see if the battery as kept it charge, if so - fit new alternator, good luck.

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee wont hold a charge and needs to be jumped. When trying to start it makes a clicking noise and the console instruments jump. Is this the battery??? Or the alternator?? Or...

First remove and clean battery cables and battery posts with a wire brush or sand paper. Make sure battery is charged and check to see if it starts. Then check battery condition and charging system. The problem could be cables, battery, or alternator. Check them in order and repair or replace as needed. Check cables, battery, belts(tension and condition), and charging system in order. Do this because bad cables will give false readings for other tests and so on.

1990 JEEP Cherokee that won't start even after a new battery

It sounds kind of like you have bad alternator. The alternator uses the engines power to recharge the battery. When you replaced the battery the car ran off battery power untill it died. If the car will run while hooked up to another car while being jump started then the problem is deffinetely the alternator..

Please give a good rating, it is very importat to us..

Won't hold a charge

its the battery. the battery holds the charge and the alternator charges it so when you jump the car it stays running because you alternator is providing power when you shut the car off you have a bad battery that isnt holding the charge needed to start it again.
