The fan in my x5 bmw keeps running even when the car is off, any suggestions what or how to fix it ?

I was driving the car and the heat was on, working fine, when i stopped and turned off the car the fan kept on kicking even when the car is off, it drained the battery,is it a blown fuse or something else ?

How would it be a blown fuse--- I ask?

If a fuse was blown-- how would the fan have
a complete circuit-- in order to run at all?

Have to diagnose the fan control circuit, to
find a problem

SOURCE: BMW X5 Battery Drain.

hello theringbar, I would recommend checking the a/c blower resistor. it is an electronic final stage and can kill the battery overnight. the final stage is located on the passenger side at the back of the a/c heater box.

You need to check for any lighting left on overnight if not try to fully recharge your battery and perform a load test on it to see if it will hold the charge if so possible drainage off of interior lighting switches or alarm possible

Ac fan runs even when off pulling down the battery

I am not familiar with the X5, but most cars electric fans are controlled by a thermostat. If the thermostat, or the associated relay is stuck or defective, this could cause this problem. BE AWARE however that most fans stay on for a time to cool the engine, even after shut down. If your battery is weak, the fan staying on could draw the battery down.

BMW 2002 X5 Battery Drain

I am having the same problem with my 2002 X5. There is a motor or fan running behind the AC control panel on the dash and if I pull fuse 48 it stops and the battery doesn't drain. Still looking for the cause and solution so that I don't have to keep pulling and installin fuse 48. BMW garage suggested that it was the Final Stage Blower Resistor. I replaced this and no change. I hope someone has an answer that will help us both.

The ac fan has stopped working in my 2002 x5. controls al light up but there is no heat or air. suggestions ? & how to i fix ?

Assuming that you have checked the fuse for the fan, the most common problem is the resistor that controls the fan speed. That has been problematic, and BMW has tried several designs for this resistor. Current design part costs about $55 on line. I don't know where it is mounted on this model, but it will be under the dash near the center somewhere.

Front AC blower stop working on my BMW X5 2003

If you do not run even one level of performance as the needed engine control unit, check fuses! If they are okay, the fan is defective! is a frequent defect no only X5 E53 series
