Hi, actually I believe that the cateras are in the Opel omega family of vehicles. There is a multifunction relay that controls a lot of devices in these cars including the radio. I am going to post a link that should help you find the electrical components for a 1997 catera. Believe me, you are not alone when it comes to electrical problems in these cars. They actually are not that difficult to work on and if you are savvy electrically I am sure you can trace a bad device or a bad ground. At least you know your alternator is new, just make sure the voltage regulator is functioning properly and reading between 13 and 14 volts with the car running. Here is the link, I hope it helps. As I stated, this particular relay causes a lot of headaches for catera owners, but I could be completely wrong. Just an educated guess, good luck, I hope this helps.

Check that all the ground wires(white) are clean and tight on the firewall under dash. Weak or no ground can cause feedback of power also making things go crazy. But ALWAYS check to have a good ground connection on both sides of the vehicle.

You must use 10W30 oil in the summer. On really hot days, when you are stopped and in drive, the oil pressure will drop to almost zero (according to the dash gauge).
If this is not happening under the above conditions, you need to place a shop gauge in the oil sensor sender port and test for proper pressure. If it is low (out of spec), you need to ensure the oil sump is not plugged in the crankcase. If it's not plugged, you need to replace the oil pump and fast!

The ABS issue is probably caused by the EBCTM module on the back of the ABS modulator, loose fuse, or bad connection to the module. Affects the cruise and PS as well.

SOURCE: Dash Cluster, gas gage doesn't work when fuse keeps blowing 10amp

costs like $100 an hour for automotive electrician. use a curcit breaker (looks like a fuse) its silver put it in wher the blown fuse is. buy a compass. and runn the compass over the wiring . when the compas moves in the direction of wiring its in that area. a short curcit creats a magnetic feild.

1999 ,4x4,454,2500suburban.airbaglight stays on,when truck is turned off something is draining the battery ,the clock doesnot work fuel gage doesnot work.

Sorry to say, but none of these are related. Fuel gauge is probably the sending unit in the tank, could be wiring. The air bag could be the module, the bag unit, the sensors, or bad wiring. The radio is probably your most likely choice for battery drain. The three main things I have found to drain batteries are the radio, the starter, and the alternator. These three will kill a new battery in 1 to 2 days, An older battery over night. Shorts in the interior lighting is 4th..

REPLACED STARTER THEN RECHARGED BATTERY CAR STARTED FINE THEN DROVE FINE THEN GAGES ON DASH STARTED GOING CRAZY ALONG WITH RADIO THEN CAR ACTING LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE NOW WONT START

sounds like your battery is dying,, have it LOAD tested,, it could show 12 volts, but the amperage isn't up to par,, even with one bad cell the battery will drain , also,, once you know its fully charged, start the vehicle,, use a meter at the battery posts to check the voltage,, you should get a reading of 13.5-14.5 volts, if not your alternator isn't doing its job, make sure all battery connections are clean and tight.

My car battery keeps getting drained. what is draining my battery.

Are you sure that you have a problem with something draining the battery, or do you have a problem with the alternator not charging the battery? I would have the alternator tested to make sure of that before spending hours and hours troubleshooting electrical problems.

Basically, to check a problem like this you will need a clamp on amp meter. Then you pull fuses from your fuse panel and see where the drain is. Make sure you have a good layout of your fuse panel and fuse sizes (a digital photo is also a good idea) before starting, so you don't introduce problems.

don't put your baby out to pasture yet. Your circuit is quite simple, so it shouldn't be hard to fix this. First check the 15 Amp CRUISE fuse. It might be in the engine compartment relay box. If it isn't that, it must be a loose wire. See diagram below.

Lights started flickering battery light came on Dash lights and gages went crazy now wont start

Like you said, battery may be flat. You can check that with a multimeter.

Next check the alternator. Faulty alternator leads to uncharged battery.
