You should take it to an AC recovery service. If you get caught dispensing freon improperly, you could get over a 10000 fine. After it's recovered, you can work on the sysyem. Make sure you create a vacuum on the system prior to recharging your AC with freon.

1993 Eldorado Cadillac ac compressor won't take freon. Display says compressor off, low refrigerant. How to bypass computer? Can compressor relay be jumped using paper clip? Which holes? to

Grab some refrigerant gauges and take readings. If the low side has more than 40 psi or so of pressure, the low limit switch will close and allow the compressor to run. If there is indeed low pressure causing the compressor not to run, you will need to flush the system after eliminating the source of the leak. If the a/c compressor has never been changed, it is probably the source of the leak.

How to change a/c compressor

This is actually a relatively easy fix. First you need to get a vacuum pump to remove the freon currently in your system it\'s illegal to release it in the atmosphere. You can rent the pump and hoses at autozone for 300$ which is completely refundable once you return it.

1. Vacuum the a/c system completely

2. Remove your serpentine belt

3. Remove the hose and electrical connector from your ac compressor.

4. remove the bolts connecting the a/c compressor to the bracket (I think there are only three)

and that\'s all you need to do to remove your compressor

reverse the process to install your new one but make sure its filled with the proper ammount and type of a/c oil. Vacuum the a/c system again because it works better with negative pressure. Then refill it with the correct ammount of r-134a freon I\'d suggest use a can freon with uv dye so you can check for leaks in your system using a black light. If there is a leak you\'ll need to vacuum your system again and replace the defective part and fill it back up with freon. I hope this helps good luck a/c systems can be tricky.

How do I replace the compressor on a 1999 Ford F250

Hi Sherwood, Im glad to help!

Sherwood, A/C Compressor;s are easy to change, it's the Freon part that makes it impossible for people that doesn't have the proper equipment to evacuate and recharge the system that stops them from doing the job. Give me a call Al 314-374-5218. You can't release the Freon into the atmosphere. Once the Freon is removed from the system take the belt off, unplug the electrical connector, remove the Low and High side lines from the compressor then remove the 4 bolts that hold it to the engine, reverse the procedure for the new compressor and evacuate and recharge the system and your done. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sherwood.

My ac is blowing hot air even after I charge it. When I turn it on the compressor does not chip in but when I check it, it seem to be working fine. what could cause it to blow hot air?

Has your a/c system ever been completely replaced? If not then the freon you used was wasted(sorry to say).1994 has a/c systems which used R-12 freon. In 1995 the a/c systems were redesigned and use R-134a freon because it is less harmful to the environment. The 2 freons are completely incompatible for use with the other's system.Shops have to have special permits just to buy, sell, use, dispose of the R-12.If your system has been changed over, there is a leak and it needs to be checked out.
Good luck! Greg

Air conditioner compressor not turning on bought a new compressor last year it is full of freon/the new stuff

hopefully when they regassed it with the new freon they put dye in the system if the gas has leaked out somewhere slowly this will stop the compressor from working as the have a back pressure release valve, when the pressure isnt high enough the compressor will not engage. you may need to take it in to have them check the pressure in your system.

How do you change the a/c compressor in a 2004 4runner

I think you should be a certified or if you know the right what to do, that going to be fine. But if you don't, don't attemp to do it because its against the law. Their is a fine to release the freon on the atmosphere. You can not avoid to release the freon by changing the compressor. ok, sorry

No cold air

There may be enough freon to make the compressor engage however not to make it cool down. Once the freon drops enough, the compressor will not turn on to prevent damage to the unit.
When you say it comes on are you saying the blower fan works or that the compressor is indeed engaging?

A/c compressor

It is against the law to release certain kinds of freon into the air. Take the car to a certified mechanic who has a freon recovery unit
