I have checked fuses and battery plus checked the connections of the start motor which was brought brand new 5mths ago. it used to click for 2mins the start but now it just clicks, I can clutch start it
If the clicking is from the starter motor area then its prob a power supply issue. the vehicle battery may have a full12-13volts but it depends what happens when under load... connect a multi meter to the battery terminals and turn the key to start, if the voltage drops below 10volts, then the battery is stuffed. batterys can show 12 volts when no load is applied but can go down to nothing when under load.
does the vehicle have an after market immobiliser/alarm? if it does make sure it is dis-arming.
Testimonial: "I would like to thank every1 for your answers it turn out to be the battery wasn't powerful enough and the ignition wire had been spliced for the alarm which was on the car already when I brought it. the pajero is going now with new battery and button push start. once again thanks for the help."
The small wire to the starter is loose or failing to make a good connection it gets enough power ti click the solenoid but not engage the starter
SOURCE: new starter good batt. only clicks wont turn over 1995 montero
The Batt does not have a full charge or it is the wrong cranking AMP's for the car... find out if it is the right Batt and also that it is put on a "slow charge" over night or at least 6 hr's
