SOURCE: bad heater core 2001 chevy c1500

Disconnect the battery negative. Remove the radio, air conditioning control panel, measuring instruments, remove 4 bolts that attach the steering column at the bottom of the dash has a tube that is clamped by two screws to remove this tube is divided into that part of the steering column remove that section of the tube to the steering column complete fall on top of the dash carries cristalhay nearly three screws to remove and so the dash is free and can be moved. down. we have to download or pick up the 134A freon air conditioning system to remove the air filter off the liquid line to disconnect the water hoses that enter the calentador.Ahora remove the screws holding the case where the evaporator and the heater is We can get out and disassemble the box to get the heater

SOURCE: How to remove the heater core from a VW GolfMK3

there are alot of hidden screws holding the dash in. there are some up across the top of the dash by the windshield and defrost vents. also when you open the doors there are some in there. it is quit a difficult job I really dont recomend doing it yourself but if your not afraid to try and feel confident enough to tackle it good luck. it would be best to have an experienced mechanic do the job but it will cost over three hundred for labor. if you do it yourself go to a parts store that sells haynes repair manuals they cost about twelve dollars and are pretty helpfull.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice, I will find a manual and if gives some form of help I will do it myself. If not I will pay for it to be done. Thanks."

How to take out heater core in 1997 sable

If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.
