Need more info What output sensor? If you are talking about the pulse generator (output shaft speed sensor) in the transmission then the wires come with it. The output and input sensors com together.

You need to check the out put speed sensor (OSS). This is a 2 wire magnetic pick up sensor and is used to measure output speed shaft. This is used to determine proper govenor PSI. This sensor is prone to internal failure and loose ground connection. Here are the location the output is located on the left rear trans. On 4X4 it will be before transfercase. Also If you change ECM put the old one back they have a security vin installed and it will need to be flashed plus it wont match and youll get weird drivability results. Let me know we can fix this together.

Does a 1996 Ford Taurus 3.0 have a hot wire type mass air flow sensor or a vane type? Would spraying carb cleaner into the MAF fix the problem of hard cold engine start? Once the engine warms up does the...

TheMobilian, Yes, the Mass Air Flow is a Hot Wire type. There is a spray made for the mass called mas air flow cleaner. Regular cab cleaner is too harsh and can eat the coating inside mass air flow and it's delicate parts. Use throttle bore foam cleaner; it works like bathroom scrubbing bubbles and eats the gum and varnish. When engine warms up (closed Loop) both sensors work together giving input to ecm for output. Have someone with a live data reader read both sensors. (Let me know the readings?)

Image Mass Air Flow(MAF)Sensor

PURPOSE

The Mas s Air flow (MAT) sensor measure s the amount of air flowing into the engine.

This value is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in calculating the required

Fuel injector pulse within order to provide the desired air fuel ratio. This input can also

be used in determining Electronic Pressure Control (EPC). Shift and torque converter

clutch scheduling.

CONSTRUCTION

The MAE sensor is located directly in the airflow path between the air cleaner housing

and the throttle body. Ail air entering the intake manifold must pass through the sensor.

Located in the MAT sensor directly in the airstream are two platinum wires, a hot wire

heated by electrical current and a cold reference wire. The MAF sensor uses the air flow

across these wires to calculate its output.

OPERATION

The hot wire is maintained at 200CC (392CF) above ambient temperature as measured by

a constant cold *e. The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is

proportional to the air mass flow. The MAE sensor then measures the amount of

electrical current required to maintain this temperature difference and converts this

value to an analog DC voltage. This output varies directly with the mass air flow rate.

Pay attention to the Paragraph about the torq converter.

What is the bolt with the small plug and wire attached located in the corner of the battery tray for? When disconnected the battery warning light on the dash comes on

I don't know why they did this but it's a temperature sensor. I'm told if lets you know when the battery is overcharging. On my car ('97 Neon) if I leave it disconnected the car will run for about 20 minutes and then quit. You should be able to cut the connector off the wires and hook them together.

Throttle position switch. how much for the part? is it easy to repllace?

This sensor sends the ECU an output signal which corresponds to the opening of the throttle valve. Using this output signal, the ECU precisely controls the air/fuel ratio during acceleration, deceleration and idling. The TP sensor and the throttle switch are combined as part of an assembly. The switch signal turns ON only when the throttle is opened to the idle position or at Wide Open Throttle (WOT) acceleration.

Fig. 5: Lift off the throttle position sensor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the throttle sensor electrical harness.
  3. Place a matchmark on the throttle position sensor and throttle body mounting surface, so that during installation, the sensor can be properly aligned.
  4. Remove the 2 screws securing the throttle sensor to the throttle body assembly.
  5. Remove the throttle sensor by pulling it in the axial direction of the throttle shaft.
  6. Remove the throttle sensor O-ring and discard.
To install:
  1. Using a new throttle O-ring, install the throttle sensor, aligning the matchmarks. Install and hand-tighten the retainer screw.
  2. Connect the throttle sensor electrical harness.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.

Hope this help (remember rated and comment this). Good luck.

On a 1996 chrysler concorde I was told to disconnect a bad catlitic? converter to get around high prices for a young lady I am trying to help with no cash.after replaceing it with strait pipe the car idle...

By connecting the O2 sensor wires together you have created a short to ground in the O2 heater circuit blowing the related fuse that is usually on the ASD circuit. Without a converter the check engine light will come on since the O2 sensors are no longer doing their job. If she doesn't mind the light being on, disconnect the sensors leaving all the wires an open circuit and replace the affected fuse. You can't trick the computer since it looks for a ramp voltage and compares the upstream to downstream O2 sensors to determine the proper air fuel ratio for any given driving condition. I hope this helps.

For the record: if the sensors they're referring to are the input or output shaft speed sensors, they are very easy to find...just remove the air intake box (where the air filter is) and they're right there on top of the transmission. Input sensor is the one closer to the front of the vehicle, output towards the rear.
