Van is dying any time I come to a stop, I just bought it so I know nothing about it. I drove it home from where I purchased it on the highway the whole way with no problems. It was at least a 20 mile drive. I stopped to get gas 10 miles from home, I filled the front tank with 87 octane. As I left the pump it died pulling out of the station parking lot, I was at a light so I just put it in netrual and it restarted with no trouble. I pulled back onto the highway and drove highway speeds another 10 miles towards my house with no issues. As soon as I exited the highway it died at the fist light, I put it into netrual again and it restarted so I continued home just a few blocks putting it in netrual every time I needed to turn or stop while also keeping on the gas. I let it cool completely down at home for a couple hours then took it to the store. It started fine when I left the house but not trusting it I continued to keep putting it in netrual for stops and turns. I was in the store maybe 30 minutes when I tried to start it to leave it would not turn over and was struggling for the first time. I tried to jump it hoping it was just the battery but no luck. I thought it was just going to need an idle adjustment but now that it won't start at all I'm stumped. The temperature out side has dropped since I bought the van. I got it at about 430 and it wAs 65 degrees, by the time I made it home then went back out to the store it has dropped at least 20 degrees. I don't know if that matters but I just figured id mention it. Also could not get it to start at the store with starter fluid. I checked and I'm also getting spark. Last thing, I have not touched the fuel tank switch and only filled the front tank.

Did you ever try pumping the accelerator like 3 or 4 times before ignition? It sounds like a discharge problem. I had a scenario which I left the park tail light on for 3-4 hours, I didn't notice it was on coz I was in a hurry. When I got back 3-4 hours engine wont start, I had to use a different battery to recover the ignition. You can try changing the battery terminals or test a different or new batt.

I suspect the fuel pump has stopped working, check the fuel pressure or listen to the noise it makes by taking off the gas cap and listening for a humming noise when the key is turned on, this will stop after a few seconds.

It's got all the symptoms of a leak in the fuel line. You may want to start backward at the tank and work your way all the way to the carb to find it but it would be surprising if it was something else. All the best.

Replace the fuel pump relay. And if your truck has dual tanks there's three fuel pumps, one in each tank and another secondary fuel pump.

Also, when you have the dog house off, remove the distributor cap and check for moisture.
