Get ready to fly down to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL area to go vehicle shopping for a 2003/2004 Lincoln Navigator.

Getting ready to fly down with Brother-In-Law to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL area to go vehicle shopping for a 2003/2004 Lincoln Navigator. My dream vehicle.(I think) My requirements on purchasing are the following; -Less than 150K on miles -Good Tires -Colors: White, Black, Maroon, Gray, Gold -Leather seating -All car features/options work -Prefer V-6 engine(better gas mileage) but will look V-8 as well I've selected about 9-10 vehicles via used car websites(e.g. carguru, cars, carsforsale, etc) and notified the car dealers that I would be this coming Thursday. Now, I'm aware that a few may already be sold when I get there. No problem. That's why I selected 10 with a hope of test driving 4. BIG QUESTION: What things/vehicle features should I need to be looking for during my vehicle selection and ultimate price offer? If I am successful with making an negotiated offer, I had plan to take the vehicle to a national chain auto service center(e.g. NTB,Goodyear, Firestone) and get and a general evaluation of the vehicle. For more objectivity, I chose not to take it to a local area mechanic where I'm buying the car. Is this a good strategy?? I call this certification period before finalizing the deal. If all goes well, I will buy the vehicle in cash. Being that it is CASH offer, what else can I negotiate in the deal. (e.g. free gas, car wash, extended warranty etc)? I've done this before with buying cars, but getting input from smarter people is paramount in my book. I want this to be a GOOD deal for me and my family. At least for the next 100k in miles. Thanks sincerely to everyone for your assistance.

Why would you fly anywhere to buy a specific car? All of this time and money invested to buy a ten year old car. You should go on Cars.com or any of the similar sites and search for this car within 50 miles from home. Set up an inspection with a highly recommended mechanic near you. Put the airfare in your gas tank, when you get a car.

SOURCE: ETC Failsafe Mode- 2003 Lincoln LS -v8 85,000 miles

Mike:

The ETC going into safe mode because PCM sees something wrong that it believes will interfere with throttle control. It goes into failsafe so as to not loose control and have an unattended acceleration and cause you to crash.

Now what almost always causes this ,95 % of the time on this vehicle is a bad coil pack. It will usually show up a wide open throttle almost everytime when your rpm's get close to 5-6k rpm's.
It will feel like you reach up and turned the igntion switch off and back on. The only for sure way to tell which coil or coils are causing this is to have the dealer do a stress test on them.
It could also be the valve cover orings maybe leaking and getting oil on the coil packs, you can verify this be removing the coil packs and seeing if spark plug wells are full of oil.

The only other thing I have seen on this model that may cause this is a coolant control valve shorting out.

SOURCE: 1997 lincoln town car 4.6 with a p0430 fault code

I will make an assumption here, we know what the root word means. This code was extracted from the computer by? What this is telling you one of 2 things: The Bank 2 oxygen sensor down stream of the catalytic converter (there are 2 converters, one for each bank of cylinders on the 4.6ltr engine) is bad and/or that the Bank 2 catalytic converter is no longer doing the job it was designed to do. Simply, Catalysts wear out. They are good for approx 100,000 miles (as required by Federal Law). Again, I assume that the reason the intake manifold was replaced was because it had a crack in one, or more, of the runners? (part that feeds the head of a manifold). It may have taken a while to find this as being the cause of why the car running incorrectly, maybe rough. This means, that during the time the car was being driven with the problem, the amount of unburned, or not within spec exhaust gases, coming off the side of the engine affected by the intake issue was higher than normal. This out of balance level of exhaust gases were being dumped into the converter on that side of the engine, thus causing the converter to have to run hotter, work harder, or even at the time the gas was being processed through, causing deposits to be formed in the converter, thus shortening it's life span. The Bank 1 side of the engine, apparently, did not have the issue and it's catalytic converter's life was not affected. I hope this makes sense to you.

Is there a rear condenser fuse on 2003 Lincoln Navigator

Condenser? What type of condenser? The AC condenser is in front of the radiator. Condensers don't have fuses, they are like a radiator for AC refrigerant gas to cool it, before going to the compressor.

How do I know if the suspension control module is bad in a 2005 lincoln navigator?

This is a very complicated and expensive system to maintain. I would strongly recommend doing a air suspension conversion on your Navigator and be done with the problem forever.

1999 Lincoln navigator is there a electrical relay for the transmission that will make it not shift into gear

Generally, no.
The vehicle is just about at the right age for a transmission failure. Best to have it looked at by a transmission shop.

I had a new battery installed in my 2007 Navigator. The air suspension now shows off. I have tried to reset using the reset buton on the dash with no seccuss.

The is usually an off/on button located in the rear cargo area behind one of the side access panels.

Also, Your Lincoln may still be under warranty because the Lincoln products have a longer warranty that comes with the vehicle.

Does a 2005 lincoln navigator air ride system suppose to release air from the system when parked

Yes, to a point. It also depends on if you have it in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. The system jacks up the vehicle higher in 4x4 for clearance.

The suspension is suppose to drop when you park to make it easier to get in and out and to load the rear cargo area. You will therefore always have the suspension pump go on when you first start the vehicle. Your vehicle should set the same as other Navigators. If your vehicle looks like it has 4 flat tires, then that is too much.

You have a longer warranty with a Lincoln if you are still concerned about it.

This is caused by a blend door actuator on the rear a/c unit. There are 2 located on the case. Take it to a dealer and they will know what you are talking about.

Need to locate gas switch lincoln navigator 2001

If you are talking about the fuel cutoff switch they are generally located in the rear of the vehicle. Look in the cargo area on the driver side behind a panel. I know on these with the air ride system the switch for the air ride is under the dash on the passenger side you can check here also for the fuel switch, but generally they are in the rear of the vehicle.
