Haynes and Chilton manuals can really mess you up, especially when they try to have one manual cover a wide variety of models, years and different motor, etc. These cheap substitutes for the manufacturer's manual give you false confidence and can leave you royally stuck by neglecting to give vital data. It depends on the type of repair. It's "penny-wise and pound foolish" to cheese out on a $20 book when you can get what you really need for $100-300. GO TO THE CAR DEALER'S PARTS DEPT. and order the real manual. FOR CHRYSLER, YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT !!! The "Service Manual" is only $140 or so. BUT it doesn't have any diagnostics for the fuel injection and computer. There is a "REPAIR MANUAL" that costs $300 and has the real information, and they DON'T WANT TO TALK about that book. You have to ask. But if you have to do real diagnostics, there is absolutely no substitute !
And then you still need the follow-on TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins), but those are often on the web.
