How do you know when transmission fluid is low in mercedes

Check the fluid level

NO FLUIDS are consumed in any motor vehicle

So to be low-- you would have to have a leak to be repaired

check fluid levels add if low.. look for conaminated fluid(brown instead of reddish color) may need filter and fluid change..on transmission..

there is know dipstick,you must buy one online,or dealer.the fill area is behind motor on passenger side U.S. model

This is only a guess. I don't know anything about Mercedes. try the transmission dipstick hole. Generally all cars use the transmission dipstick hole to add transmission fluid. Possible torque converter going bad. The torque converter connects the engine to the transmission through the drive shaft.

Also, check that the auto transmission fluid is topped off. Low fluid can cause the symptom described, as the torque converter is filled and works with auto transmission fluid.

In order to check the fluid in the transmission you need the Mercedes Benz dip stick. It's a special tool needed for all the 722.6 transmissions. Best thing is probably to just stop by a Mercedes Independent shop where they can check it real quick. It uses a synthetic based fluid. I always go with the factory fluid.

Consult your car's manual on how to check your transmission fluid. If it is too low or high, it can cause some shifting problems and even cause some serious and expensive damage. If your fluid is ok or are not sure about it, go to a local car store like Auto Zone or NAPA and have them check your fluid and run a diagnostic computer on your car. Your car may tell you what is wrong.

Look on the back of the bottle of fluid you are looking to buy, if it does not say is is approved by MB, don't use it.
