My Expediton (97) runs smooth idle's smooth but when making a slow turn like into a parking place it will stall Is it the Vehicle speed sensor?
From the symptoms that you described it sounds like the "power steering pressure switch" has gone bad. located the switch on your vehicle, its most likely located on the high pressure line of the power steering system or it may be on the rack and pinion itself. check the connection and make sure you don't have a broken connector. if everything looks okay i would replace that pressure switch. the purpose of that switch is to raise the idle speed of the engine when the steering pump puts a load on the engine when you turn the steering wheel.
Most likely cause is a defective Differential Pressure Feedback DPFE sensor...See images part and location...Cost around $80...sailer

I agree in part...Testing a suspected component rather than changing parts is the essence of trouble shooting...However one never knows the skill level of the person asking the question...TPS, MAP etc can be tested by one with little or no knowledge if the fix-it person walks the customer through the procedure...As you well know many sensors can not be tested...This is where we make the call...The expedition has a history of this fault and I feel safe in saying "The most likely cause is the DPFE"...

Check for vacuum leak.
I'm no mechanic but this can be a couple things. Bad or dirty sensor. A weak fuel pump... and most likely a bad wiring harness (reports of bad harnesses on the net)
You do realize folks can not guess
at all these questions & know what parts
may have failed, with no testing what so ever
Vehicles have to be tested to find problems
In a parking situation, your hardly moving, so I
don't see the speed sensor doing much at all
It gets it's output from a wheel with teeth, inside the
transmission near the back half
I would say you have several things that need attention,k
if it shuts off
A better question would be-does the steering rack sensor
effect the idle & could it be a problem, not the only one,but
have some effect on my question about stalling

Clean air intake butterfly with a injection system or carb cleaner spray as will be gummed up and not sealing correctly.

You know, lookinig at this problem more, you have more possibilities of what may be wrong:
This should keep you busy....at least with the easy stuff to inspect.

It should be on the back of the transmission near where the driveshaft goes in. Buy a new one, jack up your truck and look for the old one on the back of the transmission

The CAMshaft position sensor is faulty.
