Fuse to stop automatic window system in 97 voltswagen passat as they go down on there own quick fix

when u are looking at the relay panel below the dash look at the bottom of it and where the carpet meets the panel there is 2 fuses, one fuse runs the monsoon system if equipped the other runs the windows.

No but you should cringe because they're known for problems with their power windows/sunroofs and such. Broken wires, ground issues and switch problems. I'd look at the drivers door (motor/switches/wiring) first

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If they are power, it could be a bad switch or a defective wire, or bad connection. If they are manual, it is probably the window regulator. This controls the window going up and down. None the less, you will need to take off the panel to get to the window. If it is manual, it shouldn't cost much. If it is automatic, the price can rise steady. It all depends on what is wrong.

yes the exhaust system from 97 will fit with 99 they are compatible but removing it and replacing it with new is bit mechanical job.a professional technicians help is very much required in this time consuming job. This is because you have comfort setting with your convenience controll unit, it is likely that you have a fault on one or more of your window motors but it should stopif you arrange for the comfort setting to be disarmed. This can be done at a dealer only.

If you are referring to your rear window defroster not working when you press the button, you either have a blown fuse or are missing the fuse entirely.
Check your manual (sec 6 I believe): The fuse panel for your problem is located behind the glove box. You need to remove the front case but just pulling the handle to expose the fuses. The fuse is the same fuse that controls your heated seating, your hvac, rear defroster, and automatic lights. Let me know if this is the problem you where having and if this helps.. Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.

There is no any swithch on transmission. There is only one cord, on a top of trnsmission, try to see is that cord good, cause i has the same problem, whan i had a passat. the problem was in that cord exactly.
