Your car has a specified change engine oil system..it is based on recommended miles buy the manufacturers..it is not critical that you immediacy chage the oil..a lot of things determine that..one is how you drive, where you drive if you drive only highway miles in a clean enviorment could be longer..in a dirty air enviornm or in daily stop and go city traffic could be shorter...you know the conditions so use that as your change oil time or simply follow the cars signal to change..good luvk

More likely boyfriend did major damage to the engine. Oil light on means no oil pressure, could be bad bearing, expensive.

Oillifter noise, oil getting sticky

Need to check the oil pump pressure or if there is a lag in pressure. You need to check if the oil lamp lights up soon after starting and if so the pressrure can be low. Also check the quality of oil , change the oil if this was not done for a long time.

Check oil presure light is coming on... why?

Either it's low on oil, it's way past due for an oil change, faulty pressure sensor or you really have a problem with the oil pump. You should have this checked ASAP engine damage could happen real fast.

Golf e mk4 is noisey sounds like tappets, but various mechanics reckon that it is hydraulic cylinder shims? car has done 66k and not been looked after, just had it serviced and still noisey. it needs a...

BAD LIFTERS WILL MAKE A NOISE.IF VALVE LIFTERS AND LOWER SPRING SEALS BEEN REPLACED AND LIFTERS STILL NOISEY.EITHER ENGINE OIL TOO THICK OR ENGINE NEED OIL CHANGE + FILTER CHANGE.DIRTY OIL CAUSE LIFTER NOISE OR OIL PASSAGES IN THE CYLINDER HEAD STOPPED UP NOT ALLOWING LIFTERS TO GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF OIL.OR OIL PRESSURE TO LOW DUE TO FAULTY OIL PUMP.OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 29 PSI @2000 RPM. TRYING ADDING SOME SEAFOAM CLEANER IN CRANK CASE IF OIL PASSAGES STOPPED UP IT WILL CLEAN OUT OIL SLUDGE.GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE TELL THEM YOU NEED SEAFOAM.AFTER 500 MILES YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL AND FILTER AGAIN. SEE IF THIS HELP BEFORE SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY .

I waited a little too long to get the oil changed after the oil change light came on, the check engine light also came on; the mechanic cleared the oil change light, but how do I clear the check engine...

It will have to be cleared with a code reader, but the code needs to be read to see why,it is on,there is another reason for it to come on,not the past due oil change,If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

My change oil light came on 2 months ago now my check engine light came on today.is it because I have not changed the oil yet?

Why havent you changed the oil?? going past that recommendation is not helping the engine, plus you need to use only a GM approved oil, usually synthetic. The CK Eng light has nothing to do with oil.

Do I need to change brake fluid, clutch fluid and power steering fluid in my 2000 Honda ex 2Dr. coupe? It has 97,000 miles on it.

Unless you have a record of these fluids being changed in the past 18 months you should definitely change them. These fluids will degrade over time and need to be changed at appropriate intervals.
You should also flush the engine radiator and cooling system and replace with new coolant to the manufacturer's specs unless this has been done in the past 18 months.
Also ensure you change the engine oil and filter frequently (certainly more frequently than the manufacturer maximum interval specs which is based on optimum driving conditions which does not reflect reality.)

Frequent fluid changes = cheap preventative maintenance.

Brake fluid - every 2 years minimum
Clutch fluid - every 2 1/2 years minimum
PS fluid - every 3 years
Coolant flush and change - every 2 years
Engine oil - every 3500-4000 miles or 5 months minimum whichever is sooner
Oil filter - every second oil change.
